Dudes thinking Lsu is in Ncaa, no.
NIT.

Strength of Lsu schedule is 126, with 3 losses to top 50.
Sagarin has 4 loss Lsu at 72.
SOS will creep up in conference.
1 win vs top 25. 2 losses.
NIT is better. They might win 1 or 2.
Next year, Ncaa.

SFA does look less than good, but with quality wins. It really shouldn't hurt them much in the eyes of the committee.
Keep beating teams you should, and stealing a win here and there vs Top 50.... and we should be dancing!!

LSU needs to pull hard for SFA to win the Southland conf. Their RPI (right now) is actually better than their Kenpom ranking. I just like to use KenPom right now to show just how good the teams are because the RPI is still a little screwy with conf. play just starting. It will balance out later. If SFA lives up to expectations, then that won't be a horrible loss at the end of the season.

The GREAT news is that (at least right now) there really aren't any "bad" losses to be had in SEC play. The conference is that good. But that also means there aren't really any teams LSU "should" beat. Every win could be a good to great win.

The non-conf. SOS is what is hurting LSU right now. However, the good news is that LSU didn't suffer any ugly loses vs. that somewhat weak schedule and they went 2-2 vs. the good teams they played (Michigan, ND, Marquette, Houston). As the season goes on the non-conf. SOS ranking should improve significantly.

They've given themselves a chance to fight for a NCAAT spot. They will have to earn it through a brutal SEC schedule, but the opportunity is there.

He is the only player in Division I this season averaging at least 17 points, six assists and two steals per game.

Seems like Trae Young would also be in that number.

No one is, or should be expecting a NCAAT birth this season. But LSU doesn't have a horrible resume as we sit here today. Obviously that could change. The SOS should rise significantly in SEC play. Plus, who you beat and WHERE you beat them is more important than who you lose to. On that note, LSU is currently 3-2 away from home with two top 50 wins in the mix. It can't be overstated. A team's records away from home is vitally important to their tournament chances.

Now, it's VERY unlikely LSU will/could finish with a winning record away from home. But that in and of itself doesn't mean they cant be a tournament team. There are going to be NCAAT teams that finish with losing or .500 records away from home. The key is not totally the overall record, but can you show you can win some games on the road (ask the 2014-15 LSU Tigers how important road wins are). IMO, someway, somehow LSU needs to pick up at least 3 more road wins. If they do so that means their record away from home will be 6-7 (4-5 in SEC play). Great? No. But remember, South Carolina got into the NCAAT last season while only going 7-7 away from home and a chunk of those wins came against some really bad SEC opponents (LSU being one). The SEC is MUCH better this season, so LSU would have more quality wins even though the quantity would be slightly lower. Now, the road wins would be diminished if LSU can't hold serve to a large degree at home.

In years past LSU's usually shitty OOC schedule did them no favors because there weren't enough good conference wins available to make up for it. This year is different. The conference is good. In years past a 12-6 SEC record may not have been good enough to get into the tournament. This year a team with a 9-9 or even 8-10 record could find themselves on the bubble come March.

I'm a realist. I don't think this team makes the NCAAT or even threatens to do so. But, the opportunity to (happily) prove me wrong is there. Continuing with a HUGE game tonight.

While I agree with you that they’re not an NCAA team this year, you have to agree that they’re performing well above expectations and they’re getting better every game.

I don’t think they make the tourney. But i wouldn’t be shocked if they sneak in.

It's absolutely crazy to think that LSU won 2 SEC games all season last year, and tonight they can get their 2nd SEC win in only their 3rd SEC game of the season.

Will freaking Wade!

While I understand your excitement and I feel it to, I just have to laugh at this cause we were 1-1 in SEC play at this point last season with a road SEC victory the game before.... And only won 1 game the rest of the year.

*note: I think we get many more wins this year but not tonight*

I couldn't believe that 10 teams from the SEC are slated in the top 68!!!
I don't think the conference has ever gotten this much positive press.
It may be due to a weaker Big12, A-10, and Big East, but usually, the SEC is solidly in the rear with just a few teams getting any respect (usually UK and UF... with maybe a few extras).

Additionally, going out and smashing Arkansas probably did wonders for LSU after a lot of eyes were on Waters and LSU after the A&M spectacle. To add as a bonus, the computers favored Arky to win with like a 70% likelihood. There are a lot of people out there having to rethink their perception of LSU, and they'll have little choice but to move them up with the recent performance.

Getting good attention, getting some solid player development, and the SEC being perceived as stronger than usual.....
This is looking like a perfect storm for WW and his boys in Year 1!

A good bit. We have a couple of good wins and our losses are to decent teams, two of them are top 25. Maybe I'm wrong, I just think 58 is too low.
