LSU at 58
quote:

Freshman guard Tremont Waters is a special talent. His last minute against Texas A&M on the road was truly amazing. Waters was named SEC Freshman of the Week for averaging 19.5 points and eight rebounds in games against Kentucky and Texas A&M. He is so quick and crafty that very few defenders can stay in front of him. He is the only player in Division I this season averaging at least 17 points, six assists and two steals per game.

58 seems ridiculously low. I would've said low to mid 30s.

Unfortunately with the automatic conference qualifiers the 68 best teams don't get in. In reality you get the best 45 or sometimes 50 depending on how the smaller conference tourneys and such turn out.

Next year the talks about top 10 can surface. Let’s wait and see. We have 3 of the top 60 coming in, two talented bigs

As much as I’m enjoying this season, next season is going to be just freaking insane!

It's one reason they need to remove the automatic qualifier from winning your conf tourney from the equation. I think the regular season conf champion should get the automatic.

To me, you could do away with conf tourneys and expand the tourney if you wanted.

Obviously there is a LONG way to go this season, but LSU has quietly put together a decent resume thus far.

They have three wins over teams ranked in the KenPom top 50 (#25 A&M; #30 Michigan; #42 Houston). More importantly, 2 of those 3 wins occurred away from home. Those kind of wins are like gold when March rolls around.

Of their 4 losses, none are really bad: #14 Notre Dame; #23 Kentucky; #38 Marquette; #134 Stephen F. Austin.

LSU had a chance to beat UK and maybe should have. However, that loss was balanced out because Waters stole one at A&M. Given a choice, the win AT A&M is more desirable because it is a road win.

If LSU can somehow upset Ark tonight @ Arkansas, then for this week LSU is a NCAAT team. There are very few teams who would have 4 top 50 wins (i.e. only 2 or 3 teams in the country). There are even fewer who would have 3 top 50 wins AWAY from home. It's not hyperbole to say that tonight is a HUGE opportunity for this LSU team.

SFA does look less than good, but with quality wins. It really shouldn't hurt them much in the eyes of the committee.
Keep beating teams you should, and stealing a win here and there vs Top 50.... and we should be dancing!!

I just watch us and then highlights of other big games on ESPN etc.

I would think 58 is low. I'd meet you two in the middle. 45 ish?

It’s not. Our RPI is in the 80s. 58 is a very fair number.

I think it is good timing that Will Wade is at LSU. He shows the impact that good coaching can have on a program. He took many players who did not impress under Jones and coaxed effort out of them. The difference is obvious. Even if LSU doesn't make the NCAA, no one can deny the difference Wade made on this team.

LSU got smashed in games last year. Outside of ND, LSU has had a chance at the end in every game it has played. It has been pretty amazing.

Cue Chinhoyang trying to convince everyone that JJ would be in the same position as WW with this team and that Wade wasn't a good hire
