maybe I missed the part where we "man-handled" them

we beat a VERY good team that could have easily come back and won in a close one

they may have cycled thru their bullpen more than us,but only Ojala is unavailable

we werent "lucky" and we beat them fair and square, but we didnt manhandle anybody

I think fans are writing off the Haydel experience.

Rice really shouldn't use the injury excuse. Nobody forced them to pitch the guy.

You're right. A guy pitching with a completely torn ulnar collateral ligament is not worth mentioning. Are you serious?

And who is using it as an excuse? By all means, do tell me who is saying that Rice would have taken that game with a healthy Ojala.

It really isn't, the man was on the field for 5 innings and held the Tigers in check.......

If his injury was so debilitating he wouldn't have been on the mound.

Do I think his injury was a factor in his endurance? Yes but he still had some nasty stuff.

This is exactly my point. The previous poster is insinuating that by the commentators mentioning the injury that it's a built-in excuse. My point is that there's no one on this board (or anywhere else that I know of) that's saying Rice would have won the game with Ojala healthy.

If anything, I've said that his having to pitch backward probably kept LSU in check more than if he would have had his usual 90-92 MPH fastball.

Rice is an excellent ballclub, but they were flustered towards the end of the game. Showed in a couple of missed defensive plays.
