" Canada has been at LSU for 5 months "

I think everyone here knows that, but Danny is a Sr QB who started for most of last season. Him going 4-11 with a bad over the middle int. was pretty disappointing no matter how long Canada has been around.

I am not sure our questionable passing performance last night can simply be over looked cause the system or staff is new.

Since I am mainly an LSU football fan and not a fan of any coach or system, I sure hope the passing performance I saw last night can simply be explained away as due to growing pains.

And technically speaking, he did say that "LSU players picked up the system faster than anywhere else he has been". So, it's going to be difficult for anyone to make any sort of excuses after that.

I'm not dogging our offense or Canada. I'm not basing anything off the spring game. I'm just skeptical, and nervous at the same time.

I keep seeing "jet sweeps won't work against sec defenses." Are we not an SEC defense? Did Wisconsin not take one to the house against us on at jet sweep in Houston? Did Ontario Mcalleb not take a game icing TD to the house against us in 2010 on a jet sweep?

Some of you are simple minded. I truly believe some of you would rather see the Les Miles offense. Pathetic

It's a fricking Spring Game and means nothing, but what results did you see last night that tells you this LSU offense is going to be so much better than others?

Alabama doesn't win because of the style offense or defense it runs, but because of the talent it has running those styles.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Until we have real talent in both lines, we aren't going to do better than 9-10 wins. FACT!!!

Yeah...

10 points against Florida was awesome. Oh, and that 0 Points, 125 yards, and 6 first downs against Alabama was also awesome.

be in charge, it was nothing short of miraculous

LSU didn't scrap it's fricking offense four games into the season. If they had, Ed o wouldn't be the head coach. They ran the same shite, just called better games.

No miracle.

Growing pains?? LOL The dude is a experienced senior QB, if he's still growing at this stage then LSU is in for a rough season. Etling is not a good QB, average arm strength and limited athletic ability, if you are looking for him to be the savior for LSU on offense then you will be disappointed. I think Canada should just start getting Lowell Narcisse ready now because that kid has the talent to run that offense. Kid's today are experienced already coming out of HS, they are getting college based offenses in high school. I looked at both Alabama's young QB's yesterday and they were really effective. Freshman QB's starting in college has become more common all over then ever before, they are more advanced than QB's of the past running the types of offenses you see in college football in high school.

To be fair against Florida they sucked in the red zone. They moved the ball all over on Florida, but just couldn't do shite against them in the red zone. And I don't know if that was because of terrible execution or terrible play calling or what?? Against Alabama the play calling was just terrible, they or Ensminger I should say called the game like Cameron had possessed him or something. lol But Ensminger is back to coaching TE's, he did a fine job, but that's not reason to give him the OC job. Matt Canada is a great OC, he just needs a damn good QB, Etling ain't it.

I love the fact it doesn't have an identity. I hope to God it never has one.

Any offense with motion would seem gimmicky to most tiger fans

how many jetsweeps can you run in a scrimmage.
I have to admit it was refreshing to see a fast paced offense, but that jet sweep was becoming quite annoying. Like previous have stated, the SEC is too fast to effectively run that repeatedly.

It's just the truth, without good QB play, the Defenses will crowd the LOS and stop the run. Good defenses like Bama won't care about the shifting, like what LSU did tonight. They will stay in their gaps and fill the hole. QB will be the key, again.
it would be a nice change to actually create at least stalemates at the line of scrimmage against Alabama.

Nothing to worry about here. Defense is waaay ahead of the offense.
This is where a well rounded head coach steps in a brings his offense and OC up to speed.
Canada still has a lot to learn.
This is why Alleva picked a head coach who can equally bring to bear experience anywhere on the field.
I suspect Orgeron will begin by working his magic with the qb's....

I can tell you running into a wall 3 times & then punting for four quarters does not work. Watched that for 10 years.

Unpredictability has a chance. Our defense saw these plays all spring. Other colleges will not be prepared for this offense. It's not the gimmick, it's the play called at the right time against the right defensive call that puts you in the position for the big gains. Canada is the guys to make that happen, Cam and Miles were retarded with 90% of their calls.

Hope you are right, pickles, because if Canada is not the right guy, we are screwed, despite Aranda's considerable talent.
Our best case scenario is that our OC and D.C. Are far better than the HC.

LSU still does not have the quarterback play it's going to take to get us to the next level. Maybe one of the incoming underclassmen can fill the void.

Multiple sets is not gimmicky. It main purpose is to keep defense guessing on what play is actually going to be called unlike the past several years when everyone knew what was coming when the offense lined up in certain formations.

It was only annoying because the defense was stopping it. Mostly by crashing a safety or having all the LBs shift to that side.

What you may not have noticed were the few times we didn't give it to the sweeping WR and handed it off to the RB instead, it resulted in several nice gains. Even Williams had a 9 yard gain against the 1s when everyone was keying on Chark.

If you watch Pitts offense last year, Canada would fake the sweep all the time and gash teams up the middle with Connor when teams were focusing on the sweep like we were yesterday. Later in the game when they're not paying attention to the sweep and focusing on the inside handoffs, thats when you fool them and hand it off to Chark.
