Both of them have the same strengths. Both are great recruiters and great motivators.
O saw a problem and fixed it. Miles was unable or refused.
I still stand by my original statement that lsu should not make a habit of hiring career position coaches. Coach O has done a great job this year. I hope( because I'm a lsu fan) that we keep winning at an elite rate. My stance on what's an acceptable win loss record at lsu hasnt changed. Losing 3,4, and 5 games a year at lsu is unacceptable given the talent and foundation at lsu right now.
I was too harsh in my initial judgment of O. In that regard I apologize and was wrong.

I agree with most of that except O did have 2 interim stunts that separate him from just being a position coach.

He didn’t go from position coach to P5 HC though.
Bowling Green to Utah To Florida is a bit more traditional route.
Regardless, the CEO model can work if your school is willing to pay for coordinators and you’re coach can choose good coordinators.
And trial and error works if you aren’t too stubborn to admit errors.
