That was the worst poem I’ve ever read.

Mercer scored 14 on Bama. Southern Miss, which has no discernible offensive scheme, put up 14.

You do realize both teams scored meaningless TDs in garbage time in the 4th quarter against backups, right? They also were not facing a Bama defense with 3 weeks of preparation specifically to shut them down nor were they facing a team with the focus and motivation a playoff game brings.

I think honestly most LSU fans wanted a big name HC that put together a who's who type of staff.

I’m sure that is what many LSU fans wanted, but was that actually realistic or even necessary? How many top programs have OCs and DCs who were big names before joining that program? Dan Lanning was an ILB coach at Memphis. Pete Golding was DC at UTSA. Josh Gattis was a co-OC at Bama for one season and a WR coach at PSU before that. Mike MacDonald was LB coach for the Ravens (sound familiar?). Ohio St is bringing in a second big name at DC for next season, but Kerry Coombs was a career DB coach. Napier isn’t bringing in big names at Florida. Riley isn’t bringing in a big name at OC at USC. None of us can sit here and say Denbrock and House are going to be the best OC/DC combo ever, but we also can’t say we are better qualified than Kelly to make those selections. The names don’t have to be splashy to be right. He was hired to make non-obvious decisions.

I am curious why Kelly took the offensive coordinator title away from Denbrock at Notre Dame in 2015 when Kelly hired Mike Sanford Jr. from Boise St. Denbrock stayed on staff as the assistant head coach and wide receiver's coach.

Notre Dame's offense was pretty good in 2014 under Denbrock. They beat LSU in the Music City Bowl 31-28 and averaged 35.6 points per game. Denbrock remained the assistant head coach / WR coach until Cincinnati hired him as offensive coordinator in 2017.

It's strange that Kelly would now turn to someone who he previously demoted. Maybe Kelly is impressed with Denbrock's results since he left Notre Dame for Cincinnati.

Looks like LSU should’ve been calling Utah’s offensive coordinator, they gave OSU all they could handle.
