Florida has HUNDREDS of specialty plates. NONE for out of state schools. Would love to get a LSU plate. Will have to settle for the vanity "numbers."
I know you can get Auburn plates in Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, and (I think) Mississippi……
I guess the state of Louisiana must have some sort of law/policy against out of state institutions getting specialty tags in this state...

You are not correct. You cannot get Auburn plates in Texas. There are no out-of-state school plates yet in Texas. If we get them, we'll be the first.
This process will be long and will take a lot of effort for all Texas alumni associations. I hope that all of you who seem excited now will tell your friends and keep the momentum going. We'll need to presell 1900 plates. In Tennessee, they couldn't even get 1000.

I bet there will be more LSU plates sold in Texas then any other school except for UT and A&M.
This will be great for recruiting.
Doubtful on the number sold. I'm certain OU and OSU will sell more than us because they all have to move to Texas to find jobs

The OU and OSU alums may be working here, but they don't have specialty plates in Texas. A&M has the most by far.
In some states (like Mississippi, for example), they had to get a law passed that allowed out-of-state schools to get the plates. Don't know if that will be required in Texas.

I'm excited about it. I just hope TXDOT doesn't try to rape us to get one.

How is that different from Louisiana?

We'll get 1,000 just from people on this site wanting them.

Auburntiger,
I thought you were going to say, 'that will happen the day after hell freezes over.' I wouldn't expect Alabama to do anything that would benefit LSU in any way. I am hopeful that Texas will feel differently. There are over 100 kids from DFW entering LSU as freshmen next year. Doubt that many from Alabama are going to cross state lines.
