Actually I'd rather have gilbert now, then JJ and Lee together.

Yeah, I have made this point a couple of times but no one seems to really want to comment on it.

maybe but hes still responsible for 10 wins every year since 2001

Hard to fire a guy who keeps winning....

How many wins per year would he have had if Texas was in the SEC? My guess is that he would average 8-9 wins.

UT is one injury away from a bad situation. LSU can survive a serious injury to a qb better than UT. I don't hear UT calling for Mack's head. Mack is recognized as one of the best recruiters in the country and still ended up in this situation. It happens.

Since Texas is currently winning football games, all is good. Now watch them lose a few games. With that fat contract they just gave Mack Brown, you'll hear some chatter from the fan base about Mack Brown. On top of that, they've seen Gilbert's potential in very limited playing time as a true freshman and have hope for his future. We've seen both our quarterbacks, and I can say that I don't feel great about either one.

Once again, the major complaint is not the quarterback situation for 2010. It's 2012 that has everyone worried, in which we will have either a redshirt freshman or a true sophomore as our starting quarterback, with another quarterback from the same year or we'll have true freshman backups. Our starting quarterback for 2012, just two years away, hasn't even signed a letter of intent. Texas looks to have a senior and two juniors as their qb depth in 2012.

I don't get the logic. People say Texas is ok with a true sophmore at quarterback because he did well in BCS as a true freshman yet LSU is in trouble because we MIGHT have a redshirt freshman or a sophmore at qb in 2012???

First off, Texas' QB situation is not ideal. But starting the #2 rated QB in the country (#18 overall prospect) as sophomore, is a little different than starting a 3* "project" as a RSFR.

The whole "an injury away" argument is really stupid.
You could say that about the vast majority of teams across the country.

Both Texas and LSU will be fine.
This is just the flavor of the week issue for people to bitch and moan about.

Yes, he does. You can't sign LOI until signing day.

I am just saying there can easily be a transfer.

There are 3 teams in the SEC west who's starting qb this season did not originally sign with their team.

Obviously LSU can't do that too I guess.

I am not saying everything is great and smelling roses, but people need to get a grip.

Their backup qb quit

was he cut like garrett was?

and UT is in a transitional year with a new starter. depth is typically a concern in those years

it was in 2007 and 2008

we haven't had a new starter since, and we won't next year unless JJ and JLee die

then we have *drumroll* nothing. UT has 2 freshmen for the future. we have nothing

UT has a 2nd year, super stud QB in 2010

LSU MAY have a stop-gap/prject 2nd year QB in 2012

He dropped out of the program to focus on academics. He's a senior, and struggled last year with athletics/traveling and studying.

Good move.

luckily we don't have antonio moss as our coach. He is crying about something 2 years down the line. What does that tell you about him. He is already penciling in a 3star project for our starter in 2012. Our coaches may be just a little bit smarter than antonio....first of all lsu will likely sign another major qb this year now that zach lee has gone...kids do change their minds about verbals....PLSUS...it is likely lsu will get a major college transfer next year that can sit out 2011......good god these morons on here....

you do realize they've fricked up our QB recruiting/development, right?

who?

all the major QBs are pretty much committed elsewhere

Texas consistently has one of the best OL in football too, slightly different from LSU over the past seasons.

I know this...you and your 180,000 post arenot a very bright person. In fact, I'll call a spade a spade. You are very un-intelligent. Specifically, you have no clue. florida has no depth, eorgia has no depth at qb, alabama has no depth...texas has no depth...lmao. You are a real tool.

FWIW, there is a long way to NSD and kids ALWAYS change their minds...ALWAYS. With the great Zach Lee out of the way now, it will surely give other qb's a chance to take note since they have the potential to start asap.. As for transfers, there are MANY each year...hell we have several within the SEC this year alone.....we don't even have to get one now....we can get one during the year or after this year....and he will still be ready to go for 2012..IF the coaches go that route.....seriously, get a life....good god...

mccoy was their leading rusher.
