Absolutely. I think it was in his best interest to play, but if you want an honest opinion, sitting out before the season start is sitting out. What this kid has done is quit on his team. I'm not sure how anyone can spin it any other way.

meaningless games

Define for me, Mpd3–if that is your real name—what is a “meaningless game” and how that differs from a “meaningful game.”

I don’t think you really know how things work. Players get fronted money from agents as soon as they stop playing college ball if they’re going to get drafted.

He may have had things in place for that after the season. The season didn’t end on time.

After all that’s happened this year, I’m at a point where I could care less unless he ends up a Saint (which I highly doubt). I’m grateful for his time & contribution to the program. He’s moving on...so am I.

117 teams in d1.

115 of those teams wont play for the championship.

100 of those team really had no shot of playing for the championship.

Unfortunately this is the slippery slope they are headed down. If players begin to prove that it does not hurt nfl stock to quit/sit out a year the Jamar Chase deal will become the trend. College football essentially becomes college basketball overnight.

Especially if you see sure 1st round guys like Waddle fall to the 2nd and 3rd round because of injury.

How you do things matters. He did this poorly. He obviously let an agent convince him and his family decide to quit on his team. Do you really think he wrote that statement he posted when he quit? It reaked of a professional agent who only wants to get paid. Is the agent doing this for any reason other than for the agent to get paid?

I am not going to bash him with words other than to say he quit his team mid season. He quit because he had personally done enough to improve his draft status, the freshmen QBs are struggling, and the team overall is playing poorly. He would not have quit if this team were in contention. I can't support this.

You go into a schedule as a team
You end the schedule as a team

You're either all in
or
not in at all

A lot of people have the high school mentality of you play for the pride of your school no matter what. Once you get into college it is a business and both the ncaa and the school make money off you. Sometimes you have to make business decisions. College football for athletes is a job interview for the nfl so that they can provide for their family.
