I believe this and think this is mostly the source of Miles success.
Still wish he was motivating players somewhere else.

They had an article with Minter that sounded a bit like that. Miles for all his short comings is not a bad coach. Just hire a dang OC! lol!

And don't cross him. There is an ugly side.

There certainly is. My problem is not with Miles's goofiness, but with his character as a man.

There seem to be a lot of posters of the opinion that Miles is a great guy, but they don't care, because all they care about is having a guy who wins. I couldn't be more different than that group. I have always been a guy who put other matters ahead of mere wins and losses.

My position is this: While Miles may have done some admirable things in the past out of a sense of loyalty, in recent years his ego has grown unchecked and is now out of control. And while his every move seems to be calculated to position himself as a "player's coach," yes, there is a very dark side to all this.

The its-us-against-the-world schtick works fine for motivational locker room speeches, but when you start talking that mentality too far, it starts infecting day-to-day operations outside of game day. It creates a culture of non-accountability, and of disregard for anybody who happens to find themselves placed in whatever the "out group" of the moment happens to be. I think that's where the program is today, and it's why I have turned my back on it. How this relates to individual players, I have no idea, but I do know that it has fostered an utter disdain for the fanbase, and divisions within the fanbase itself--and that's just not healthy, no matter what the perceived justifications for it are.

So while the majority of players may rally to his support, that hardly means that he's doing the right things. Miles can take his "great man" image and shove it. I'd rather have a more honest and humble man as LSU's coach.

Miles is a good man.

Was he a good man when he called two excellent young men, who LSU wanted badly, into his office with their parents and asked for their scholarships back. The refused of course and he said "You will never see the field as long as I am at LSU. All you will ever be is a practice player". I will mention no names out of privacy but it is a fact.

Other than typing another wall of psychobabble. What examples make miles such a terrible person in your eyes?

Was this heartwarming anecdote supposed to make me feel better about flying to Atlanta, only to witness the Tigers lose an eleven point fourth quarter lead to an ACC team? It didn't.

Of course I do. I pulled for LSU football in the past because of the people and the state that supported it. Why the hell would anyone pull for a team irrespective of what the team is supposed to represent? I just don't get it. I've never understood that mentality at all.

CSB ALERT

I also heard basically the same thing from someone who doesn't even play for LSU..

Brad Sylve and I have talked a few times and in the last conversation we had before this season he mentioned to me that CLM was 'an awesome dude' who he really liked and that saban was a total dickhead who the players really didn't have much respect for... It's like they fear him...

RReally don't mean anything when it comes to Ws ans Ls just thought I'd share... He was recruited by both staffs

Everyone agrees and knows this 100%.

He needs to hire a freaking OC or he will fail.

Yeah all that's great but who's about to win a national championship for the third time in four years with a coach that's a dick? What's it matter to you if he's an a-hole and the players hate him? Unless you are directly effected by his demeanor it shouldn't matter. Would you rather be a fan of the defending national champions with a dick for a head coach or the fan of a Chick-Fil-A bowl runner up? And you guys act like players wouldn't run through a brick wall for saban and he wouldn't do the same for his players. Did it matter the way saban acted while he was at LSU? No so why does it all of the sudden matter now? When it comes down to it there's only one thing that matters, the win loss column and right now Bama is doing much better. And if you were a player wouldn't you rather win for an a-hole or lose for a "feel good" type of guy. At some point the competitiveness is gonna take over and you're gonna wanna win for an a-hole. At least that's what my mindset was.
