Collins had some nice plays vs SC and aTm in particular.
Yeah that's actually what I remember most about his season.
I agree they both played well for freshmen, I was just saying clearly they weren't at the level we've come to expect from LSU DBs, which is pretty much best in the country.
That's not to say they can't get to that level, I just never understood those people that say Mills' play was clearly better than Collins.
Wasn't Mills the one who blew the assignment on the Yates TD? Not that there weren't breakdowns all over that drive.

nailed it....against like comp you have maybe 3-3.5 seconds of quality coverage. we have to do a much better job of getting to the qb with inside-outside pressure, stunts and blitz packages. Cheif and Brick have their work cut out for them.

Tre White could put one of the Jalens on the bench. Might have Morris Claiborne type talent.

I just don't think Tre White will come in and become a full time starter over 1 of the Jalens. He will be our NB and receive a bunch of PT, just like a starter. But I don't see him coming in and taking 1 of the Jalens spot. Both were first year players last year and as expected for a first year had ups and downs. But I think most of that was due to mental errors that will be corrected. And they had more ups than downs. The 2 Jalens and White as our 3 CBs will be damn strong.

Mills was definitely better the first half of the year or so. He got burned on an deep pass (incompletion) against South Carolina and seemed shell shocked after that, giving 20 yards of cushion.
He'll be a stud this year.

What I remember was Simon and Reid getting burnt more than everyone else combined!

I think they were average at best last year and now the whole SEC knows and we have a brand new defensive line

Mills has the #1 cb spot on lock. He was our best db last year

They both showed promise last season to be better CB's, sure they were up and down, but it's the SEC and they were new kids on the block. I expect them to come out hungry this season knowing what LSU's rep is for sending DB's to the NFL.

U can't blame any one in the CB position any more than the entire defense. After the Bama game the whole defense kinda gave up the rest of the season & the offense didn't help. Terrible in the red zone!

Both too slow to ever be great LSU cb's.

Oh my God, so much fail in this thread! What is it about cornerback that brings out the lunatics. Here are some facts to keep handy the next time you (not aimed at everyone, nor at the op, just the moronic and verbose 70%)
1) Both Mills and Collins are slam dunk NFL corners. By this I mean that they will easily make NFL rosters and have multi-year NFL careers.
2) White's only chance of beating out these guys next year is if he is the next Deion Sanders. Same with RR although I'll add that he needs to add weight, also.
3) To whomever said the Jalens aren't up to LSU's recent standards, you're wrong.
4) To whomever said Collins was the nickel back last year...he wasn't.
