Just curious for arguments sake are we really that far away?

I'm not gonna post all the stats of us vs Alabama and Clemson vs Alabama but I did look them up and the fact is LSUs were much better than Clemsons.

One was a neutral field game.
Other obv was on their home turf.

24-6
24-10

LSU out gained Alabama everywhere on the sheet besides scoreboard.
Clemson lost every stat to Alabama plus the scoreboard.

As much as it pains me to say it they are the measuring stick.
Everybody loves the flavor of the month team in Clemson and their hick head coach, but fact is statiscally LSU matched up better played better than clemson.

Way I see things...
LSU needs a playmaker at qb.
That's why we've lost 7 to them.
It was 0-0 in the 4th quarter yr before last. Couldnt make plays on offense last year to win.
The 3-4 plays that LSU would openly admit ....both staff and players they should've and must make vs Alabama are at the very least game changing and prob makes a different outcome.
We have big guys again like we send to on trenches.
We need some offensive firepower and playmakers which we are adding.

I'm gonna choose to be optimistic about the program until I can't anymore, and one season isn't enough to not be.
If you think it is, you're prob gonna have a life full of disappointments.
Product of the Instant gratification culture we all live in.

Cool. Hope you’re right! Means we’ll beat everyone on this year’s schedule except Alabama and possibly UGA. I’d be really happy with that.

Great so by your logic we should be 11-1 or 10-2 at least this year right? No way you’ll move the goal post mid season.

I'm saying we've always had a comeptive football team and will continue to be so.
We need some playmakers on offense.

I appreciate your optimism and wish I saw it the same as you. I’m neither an optimist nor a pessimist. After games, I objectively look at things minus emotion and call it how I see it (during games, I’m very pro LSU and optimistic as hell!)

Personally, I don’t care how Clemson played Bama. I only care about how we played them. I don’t feel like we ever threatened them in the game (hell, I don’t think we’ve scared them in 2 years). I do agree that we need better QB play and I’m hopeful we get it this year. However, I believe we will enter the game with them at a significant disadvantage in the Head Coaching matchup. That gap will have to be made up by players and good fortune from the football gods. I hope I’m wrong.

Well only thing I have to go on as far as coaching is the two games.
Yes, O lost both but I can't honestly and objectively say NS out coached him, can you?
Seriously?

Clemson and Alabama both have head coaches that are proven winners. As of now LSU doesn't have that and that is the main difference.

Who’s better, Saban vs O, is not debatable. I won’t entertain that, sorry

Don't forget Auburn. They were great at home last year.

It's a tough schedule but I agree with the OP, we have some good talent. I don't see any holes in the defense, and the offense has potential.

That's not what I said or suggested and you know it.

Sabans legacy has been made.
Os legacy or lack there of is right in front of him.
We'll see.

Yeah, they’re good at home, but out of Miami, Auburn, UGA, and Bama, O should be able to go 2-2.

We have more talent than Miami, so I would say we should beat them. I know Brennan is inexperienced but we should be able to run on Miami if we can pass at all.

The next most likely win IMO is Georgia, since we will have them at home and we probably have about equal talent.

I would be very happy to go 2-2 out of those 4 teams.

Another fricking Moronic Post.

So you’re saying that Bama in November was the same team defensively that played in the CFP?

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.
The 2016 game was more reflective of what to expect this season. You better pray another Jamal Adams and Tre White be in that backfiled because Tua is 100X the QB that the other kid was.

Bama 42-3.

This is terribly misleading. You make it sound like LSU had a commanding statistical lead. It was about 10 yards as I recall and this includes lost yardage when Bama lneeled the ball.

Bama jumped on LSU early and ran away with the game. It was never competitive. They didn’t have more yards because they didn’t need more.

I didn’t see the Clemson game, but I was told it was competitive starting the third quarter. The LSU game was over after one quarter.

This will be my 43 year as a season ticket holder.
I have supported this team, MY SCHOOL (I’m not so sure people like you aren’t trolls from other schools) since the ‘50’s. Graduated in ‘72.
I know enough football to know that about Bama’s defensive play against us in 2017 was greatly impacted by having ALL 4 of their LBs out for most of the game (ALL OF THEM OUT AGAINST AU) AND WE STILL LOST BY 2 TDs and had them kneel inside the red zone to know they were 100X better coached. It also tells me their QB is better than the last one based on what their coaches were saying and his performance against UGA.
Taking into consideration they lost VERY LITTLE AND JUST WON ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP tells me they will rape us.
Will I be there? Yep. Haven’t missed one at home in 50 years. None.
