Tailgating for Older Guests

Thank you all so much for the recommendations in other tailgating posts. My family is Syracuse fans, but we adopted LSU in the Honey Badger era when we realized that watching the ACC/Big East just wasn't doing it and we needed a team in the Major League. Since then we've watched every LSU game...on TV.
This Saturday we will be making our pilgrimage to Tiger Stadium.
My parents are on the older side (70 +), and they have about one good knee between them. Do you have any recommendations for Older participants that maybe cant spend 4 hours walking around the tailgate? I'm wondering if there are good places to sit and chill throughout the party. I am curious if there are seats & shade in some of the bigger tailgates y'all have recommended (unsupervised bus, damn strong tailgate, kocka, bayou bandits). I have heard about Chimes and Walk-Ons as an option too. It seems like PMAC is only for season ticket holders.
Would it make sense to buy some camping chairs to carry around?
Can I buy seatbacks at Tiger Stadium?
We are super excited to experience it all, it is more a question of endurance.
Thank you,
-Big Rig Willie

The experience could not have better. As an lsu fan the result was obviously electric. But the whole experience outside the stadium was perfect. I never would have imagined how beautiful the campus was and we were welcomed by the first people we talked to.
I was also impressed by the politeness of the Tiger fans. We had some Ole Miss people in our section(415) and there was some good natured back and forth but nothing terrible. I've seen worse behavior at a mid season NBA game. Tbh I was kinda thinking a night game would be a shite show, and I wouldn't have minded. It was loud. It was crazy. It was awesome. But fans didn't cross a line and my parents were able to have a PERFECT experience.
Good advice on everything. Definitely the Uber situation. Coming from the NYC area, we were expecting that to be way easier. Luckily we are ready for it and we will drive next time.
Thank you!

70+ with bad knees..... It's going to be a long day for your parents. Based on where you are sitting in the stadium, you may want to limit your time tailgating. Are you parking close to the stadium? I say this because my parents are the same age and condition and I've dealt with it.
I suggest getting a table at Chimes and staying there at least until 3:30 or 4:00. It's a relatively close walk.

the pmac area is good choice to walk into and the set up camp.. lots of venders around outside by Mike.. can be crowded.. you will find nooks and crannies among there to drop a few pop up chairs.. probably in shade.. up the hill will be all the legacy tailgating so you could go view and people watch..
You could also walk into and drop chairs at the enchanted forest.. the lower area will be open as most people tend to be up the hill.. look for old Greek amphitheater on a map. again game day early you could drive down the street at end of chimes that goes by the dorms . Drop them off and go park.. try parking at place at corner of chimes and lake street.. will have a sign “Nogales” they are working on it now to open soon..
Also lots of places around the theater building you could hide and set up… you could drive into this area even early on game day and drop them at the corner of chime by the infirmary.. look at a map.. then try parking in area and walk to them.. sometimes you can pay to park at places like Louie’s restaurant.. etc..
The old engineer building ( CEBA .. my day)…taylor now? Will be full of the professional tailgating.. just walked by .. it is packed.. you could park at law school.. ( where I use to tailgate).. drop a few chairs in shade and be able to wander across the street.. walk through the parade ground and take notice of the frats area.. it will be interesting .. then walk to quad and the to the pmac area…
Have fun

If you haven't arranged for accessible seating immediately call the ticket office and see if they can move you accessible/ADA seating for the game. Also, if either of your parents have a handicapped license or tag they may be about to find some accessible parking for you.
As for tailgating, just respond to any of the multiple people commenting on this thread, they will take care of you.

If you have time to get, a cable lock type thing can be very useful for securely stowing chairs and stuff while in the game. Very good for the nomadic tailgating games.

Don’t assume this is easy! Getting in and out of campus on game day can be a nightmare depending on where you need to be and what time.

It’s weird to root for the athletic teams of a university you didn’t attend. I know we’ve got a million fans who’ve never stepped foot in Baton Rouge. Still weird AF. It’s like rooting for a high school you didn’t attend.

Good advice up above. If parking near the levee, etc...take advantage of the pedicabs. With all the tailgates and everything to see and experience...you will get some serious steps in and not even realize it. If you're not concerned with keeping them...absolutely get some cheap academy camp chairs. You can take some breaks and donate them to whatever tailgate you end up at. With all the
Also, love it when this board gets in the help a brother out mode. Good stuff.
Oh...your first TS experience should be electric and GEAUX TIGERS

Go frick yourself, clown.
OP, that a-hole is not representative of what you’ll experience. Make sure you let everybody know it’s your 1st game. When they hear your story, you will be treated like royalty. At probably 90% of any random tailgates you happen to wander into. Almost all will either have extra chairs or will gladly give theirs up for your parents. Don’t burden yourself with toting any around yourself. Have a blast and come back soon.

Best of luck to you guys. Gameday can be rough with all the walking and step climbing, especially if you aren't 100%. Just follow some of the advice other posters gave and it should make it easier on yall. Enjoy the game and Geaux tigers

Don't go sit at Chimes all day. You will miss out on what is a once in a life time trip. Even though your parents are old, I'd be willing to bet they aren't as soft as most of these people.
You will be able to pick the tailgate you want to go to and they will most likely have tents for shade, seating (although bringing a chair for them is probably a good idea), and they can sit around there literally all day soaking everything in. If they feel up for a walk to see something they will have that option. But they don't have to be on the move all day.
I hope you all have a great trip.

Let me give you a scenario: I lived in BR from ages 8-11. I then moved to Virginia (sure as hell wanted to stay in BR) and have lived here ever since until my current age of 55.
I went to several LSU football and men's basketball games while living there as a kid, and had 1150am WJBO glued to my ear listening to all the road games and home games we didn't attend.
I caught the LSU flu at that time, and haven't been able to cure it ever since. Does this make me less of a fan than someone who attended/graduated from LSU?
I think I get your point though. I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT STAND bandwagon fans. And the worst I've ever seen were those mid 90s cowgirls fans, that absolutely came out of the woodwork during their success under Johnson.
My test for a true fan is are you there when the sun is shining, and when it's raining? Do you change your teams? To me those are the fans that aren't "legit".

If you don't have tickets or its too hard on the older folks to go into the stadium, don't hang at the unsupervised bus. I don't think they really care about watching the game. It's all about the party.
