This isn’t true about Omaha and hasn’t been for a couple years. The park plays pretty neutral now and if this year has been an indication there will be a few home runs hit there this year.

Little may not pitch again this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he transferred. He stunk it up most of the year.

Hurd has been good the entire month of May. It hasn’t just been the last couple of weeks.

With the exception of Mississippi State, (5/13), you are correct.

I wish Johnson would be bold. Hurd is clearly throwing like your SP2 right now

If our bats do their job, this is a pretty solid stat line for todays college baseball game. ERAs are up all across the country. There aren’t many Paul Skene’s running around. Contact will be made and balls are flying now.

Them back-to-back is filthy. The plan moving forward is probably Skenes-Guidry close it out. Floyd x Hurd. Then game 3 a barrage of LHP.

This. This is the best response to what you’ll see moving forward.

Win 3, win 2. Omaha.
Win 3, win 2. Natty.

Allowing 4 runs in 5 innings is an ERA of 7.20. Just looking SEC & Regional opponents since the beginning of May. Only 6 times in the last 15 games have we scored 8 or more runs.

No but you've been dogging Floyd more than any other pitcher on the team all season. It's just weird bro.

Even from Sunday's game, Hurd has 12 Ks to 3 walks which is impressive, but he still gave up 4 ERs to Ty's 1 but you think Hurd is clearly above him? I think Hurd is going to be very important if we are to have success in Omaha and I love how far he's come from his early struggles to bounce back just in time for the postseason, but I don't know why you have to keep dogging Floyd in the process of building Hurd up.

Agreed but watching Hurd’s emergence it makes you realize why he kept trying to make Little a thing. Dude is a talent and if it ever clicks he will do great things.

Jay can just go into every game and pitch whoever he needs in whatever situation to win that day and then worry about the next day then.

The CWS is different. We won't have to play every day if we keep winning, so that is very important. Meaning that if LSU plays on Friday, they would play again on Sunday, and then again on Wednesday. If we win on Wednesday, we're in the finals.

You will see teams bring starters back as relievers on two days rest. I don't know if we will do that. You can win in Omaha with two good starters. Let's say Skenes pitches on Friday and Wednesday, and Floyd pitches on Sunday and the following Saturday. Hurd can come in for a few innings of relief here and there to make sure Skenes and Floyd don't throw too many pitches. We could have Herring or Coleman start if we lose any games and have to play extra.

My point is, we don't necessarily need a third starter and may be better off using our third starter as a middle reliever. I don't like Skenes pitching Friday and then Wednesday if he throws 124 pitches on Friday night. I think it's doable if he throws 80-90 pitches Friday night.

I actually like the idea of using one of the lefties (Coop, Ack, Herring, or Coleman) as the long reliever. We have two righties throwing nasty heat to start the games. Bringing Hurd in with similar stuff might be asking too much in Omaha. He was great against OSU because his breaking ball was filthy and he was throwing it for strikes. If he has to throw fastballs, it might not work out as well... One of the lefties would give a different look.

Just my two cents.

I don’t trust him vs good teams. I don’t hate him

But you trust Hurd more against good teams? If we're going stats vs top 40 RPI (you didn't include Ty's 3 innings against Oregon State btw) here are Hurd's lines:

4.2 IP 3H 0ER 3BB 4K 0HBP
3.1IP 4H 2ER 1BB 4K 1HBP 1 HR
2.0IP 4H 4ER 5BB 3K 1HBP 1 HR
0.0IP 4H 6ER 2BB 0K 0HBP
1.1IP 3H 3ER 1BB 1K 0HBP
1.2IP 0H 0ER 0BB 1K 0HBP
1.0IP 0H 0ER 0BB 2K 0HBP
5.1IP 4H 3ER 2BB 4K 0HBP 1 HR
5.0IP 7H 4ER 3BB 12K 0HBP 2 HR

24.1 IP 29H 22ER 17BB 31K 2HBP 5HR

8.22 ERA
1.99 WHIP

Both are going to be vital for us to have success going forward but I just don't agree with your assessment of Hurd being the clear cut #2 over Floyd.
