If you wanna be technical, he asked how many 12-18 teams have made it. 2021 Bama wasn't a 12-18 team, they actually went 12-17 because a game was cancelled. Also they didn't lose a weekend series to a small school, I can almost guarantee you 2021 Bama's RPI was higher than ours will be if we happen to sweep Florida (which is extremely unlikely to happen anyway).

I bleed purple and gold through and through but why would we want to make the tourney? Serious question, it’s not like we were misssimg pieces and all of a sudden found them and are a hot team. We get into the tourney and get sent to UCLA to get murdered on national TV twice? I’ve accepted this year isn’t our year and it happens. I dont want to be embarrassed

This team won't win it all. I'd love for them to get regional experience and then get bounced. Portal opens on June 1. I want Jay free and clear from that date forward.

If nothing else, it gives people another weekend of something to watch on TV. And who knows in a tournament setting? A break here or there could change everything. I doubt LSU fans expected to see their team down 5-1 to UALR in the deciding game of a regional, or a 13-17 LSU team 3 outs away from reaching a Super Regional in 2024.
Even if it were very unlikely LSU could win a regional, I don't think I'd ever say "I hope they don't make it"...absent a situation where backing into the postseason would prolong the tenure of a coach that needed to be fired for the betterment of the program

2021 was a very strange season. The only way in is if you win the SEC tournament. Not that it would matter but You’re probably not going to waste the pitchers this weekend.

Oh yeah. To be clear, I want us to win out and win a title. I just don't think this team is good enough to get there, and I know how shitty the portal timing is.
That's why in my best case scenario (outside of winning a national tile), we win the SECT and go to a regional and compete and fall just short, so Jay has ample time to work the portal.
