Ensminger > Linehan

Not that that's saying much but just thought I'd put that out there

the first 3 games with Brennan we were throwing 43 times per game. Honestly the issue wasn't conservative, it was balance and rhythm of play calling. Not using runs to set up play action and not using enough RB routes and WR screens to open the deep and intermediate routes.

This.

It was a random run play followed up with deep seam, deep out or far hash out. Sprinkled with a few quick slants. There was no rhythm or creativity to the play selection and that’s why LSU was 9-39 on 3rd down. Nobody paid attention bc MB would hit TM for 2 50yd TDs a game...”offense is so explosive”

Yep. Those two were huge. Up 20-14 late in the 3rd the first penalty negated would would have been 1st and 10 LSU inside the Ark. 15. The drive ultimately resulted in a punt

The second penalty took away a 3rd down conversion that would have set up LSU 1st and 10 inside the Ark 20.

dude stats aren't everything especially this year. i think he's a qb coach or wr coach or something.

there's a damn good reason he was at the heisman ceremony last year.

There was a fumble on a pass to one of the receivers,(Moore) there was a reception, but foot out of bounds on the one, Boutte, and the reception by D-P for an apparent TD,that was ruled incomplete. There was also the incompletion, just off the fingertips of Gilbert, that would have been a TD.
If those plays were made, the game could have been more impressive.
Those plays were called, not conservative, but not executed.

Only people who’ve never seen Linehan coach want him as our OC. Those of us who’ve seen big chunks of his career know he’s more vanilla than Ensminger by a lot.

That ball should have been caught by Gilbert. Go watch the replay that ball hit his hands. Could have been a better throw with more touch but it is a catch a good TE must make much less one as great as Gilbert.

Just looked it up and you're right. His old contract ended in March of 2021.

Steve is doing the only thing he can right now to have any chance of winning football games. Ball control and TOP.

Ensminger isn’t the best. And because he laid a couple eggs against the best team in the nation, everyone wants to bring that up and use as if that’s a good example to use when describing his track record so far as our OC.
But BY GOD have some sense. Our offense has been a THOUSAND times better than it was with good ole Les.
His FIRST game as OC, using the SAME PLAYBOOK that his predecessor was using, with only one week to prepare as OC, he set school records. Mid season, same players, same playbook. Idc who we were playing. That is an outstanding achievement. That is a testament to his play calling abilities. And might I add, he broke multiple offensive records that same year, before Burrow and before Brady.
Like I said, I’m aware there are better guys out there. He’s not the best. But he has worked his tail off from day one, he’s got grit, and idc what anyone on here says, the man can call a ball game.
Want to go fast? He can call an effective hurry up.
Want to play keep away? He can call a good game that way too. (40+ min TOP last week)
Want to dot the I and play old ball? He’s proved he can do that when he inherited Cam’s playbook.
Want him to run a spread with RPO mixed in? The man admitted he needed a teacher to learn the concepts, he learned it well and now he’s doing a GREAT job in my opinion on his own.
Nobody calls the right play every down. But he’s been DAM good. He was on his way to possibly breaking more records with Brennan at QB (Brennan was already on pace to have the most yards ever by an LSU QB).
I know this was ridiculously long. But hey, it is called the RANT lol.
Y’all need to open your eyes, watch every game, remember what you watched and get off E’s back until he gives reason.
