Is there anyone here that will admit to wanting to give DiNardo another year at LSU?

Also, just out of curiousity, is there anyone that wanted Hal Hunter to replace DiNardo after the Arkansas performance?

Hell, no. I wanted his arse gone after that debacle. Do you remember what Joe Dean did?

I thought that might not be bad because Hal's coaching in that game showed us the talent that was already there and we should have been much better that year.

Naw... that was my first season as an LSU fan (it was my freshman year at LSU)... memories of that season are very fuzzy for me.

What did he do?

I stuck up for him but I knew he needed to rid himself of Tepper before the '99 season, and he didn't. He was better than average at LSU before he became a paranoid, reality avoiding, nutjob. We had talent, plenty in fact. Really, I was in a depression at that point in the '99 season, so i wanted him to go out gracefully. He didn't.

On a happier note, I bought my season tix the very next offseason after only being on the waiting list for four days! THANKS NEGATIGERS!

It's easy...i thought he should have been fired, but if the higher ups hadn't have fired him than i wouldn't have bitched and moaned or stopped going to games.

P.S. IMO...Dinardo was a pretty good coach and a really good recruiter. His assistants killed him and his refusal to fire Tepper was his downfall.

Enough for Saban to win his first SEC title a couple of years later.

Timing is everything. I extended Grad school to get that one more fb season in the student section (1999). To continue goint to the games. I had to buy season tickets as an alumni for 2000. No wait list and moved to better seats in 2001...still got them.

I was in the north endzone and after the game he trotted in front of us. He had been sticking up for Dinardo and wanted to keep him. When he ran by, he was waving at the crowd and we started to boo him. He then shook his fist.
The worst era in LSU football history is squarely the fault of Joe Dean.

I think he is trying to say that he cheers for the "uniform", as I think most fans do. Meaning that he was going to pull for his team regardless if Gerry D, Hal Hunter or Goldie Hawn was the HC, simply due to the fact that he is and LSU fan. The vast majority of fans are the same way, even if they don't really like the current coaching staff.

1999... worst year in LSU football history? Such expectations, and it all went horribly, horribly wrong. At least in 1993 we knew we were gonna suck.

i actually listened to that game on wwl and pulled for us to lose. i wanted to make sure dinardo was gone. i liked him and wanted him to succeed, but the players had finally quit on him and it was time to move on. as a fan/supporter, i had had enough.

I wanted him gone, not getting rid of Tepper is worse than Miles keeping Crowton. At least Crowton has one bad arse year to hang his hat on. How many games did we lose in two years (98&99) scoring more than 4 touchdowns.

I was a grad student in 2000. I walked up to the ticket office three days before the first game and bought season tickets. And they just had a huge stack sitting on a file cabnet behind the counter.

Man, these new fans don't remember how it use to be.

Same here. He started off the momentum by getting some talented players here. Don't forget, Saban won with DiNardo's players.
