LSU has had the second toughest from 2003-2010. The toughest? Arkansas - little surprise there. After all, Arky has to play LSU every year.

Yeah, and we have to play Arky every year which holds us back from locking in the top spot

Definitely. I thought another interesting note was that Texas' SOS in those seven years was 50. That was much lower than I expected, playing in the Big 12.

And SEC has 11 of the top 20. Wow.

Texas' OOC is usually embarrasingly poor.
Cool link.

You should take this to the SECr.

I'll repost it there - I'd like to hear some other teams' prospectives.

The SEC has 8 of the top 10.

I'm not disputing your link or the conclusion they draw - since they are perfectly legitimate IMO
But SOS can be calculated in wildly different ways depending on who is doing the numbers. And in some ways that can make sense - because how difficult a schedule is for a team is highly dependent upon how good the team in question is
That is, a hard schedule for a great team requires other great teams on the schedule... a hard schedule for a bad team just requires you play a lot of average or above average teams

Here's the NCAA schedule stats:
NCAA Toughest schedule
I think "Sorted on Cumulative Opposition" makes the most sense.

Agreed - it is easy to play the numbers. My issue with the NCAA numbers is that it appears to be completely based upon the win-loss record of the opponent. This is certainly a valid way to sort the numbers, but other factors (such as a BCS ranking, whether the game is a home or away game, etc.) are relevant too.
I really like to look at the numbers. Thanks for posting the NCAA numbers - very interesting.
This seems to explain the basics of how the numbers that I posted were calculated: LINK /

To be completely accurate, you'd need to measure not only the level of competition of each team's opponents, but the opponent's level as well.
For example, shutting out the top offense in the country doesn't mean squat if those numbers were put up against the likes of Shoo Fly U, Little Sister of the Poor, and Rent A Win State.
Had this same argument with the Tacklebox U fans prior to the Cotton Bowl. They were posting fancy graphs about how their defense had shut down better offenses than ours, and how we'd never seen the likes of their offense.
Remind me again how that turned out?

8 or the top 10 are SEC

Even more proof the SEC is one hell of a division to play in.
