You’re a computer nerd who doesn’t know anything about sports and just parrots silly shite you hear from other ignorant nerds. It’s a nerd cycle, like retards in a toilet bowl.

I would be ok with nfl starting up a starter league.
everyone would be, but the NFL has absolutely no reason to subsidize a minor league system when the NCAA provides that to them for free

You're retarded
And you're calling me retarded?
Sure, sure, sure, they've all been "amateurs" until the NIL era.

I know they haven’t, the fact you believe this proves how dumb you are.

How fricking naive are you? College football was NEVER about giving "people a chance to attend college that otherwise would not have been able to financially and potentially due to academic limitations." People got a scholarship because they could help the team win. That's the way it's always been.
Casanova became a doctor
Cannon a dentist
Chad Loup was a huge recruit and became a doctor
Same with nacho albergama
Etc etc
It’s relatively new in the college football landscape that school is just a complete fake afterthought for pretty much every power 5 recruit

Do you mean all the paid players being paid millions combined? If not then you're wrong... its not easy to hide a million dollars.... sure some players were given cars and some cash under the table but millions or close to a million... nah brother.

You actually got a bunch of upvotes from a ton of old frickers on here lmfao

The problem that a huge % of us have is that the current state of college sports has almost nothing to do with “college”.
Most of these “athletes” don’t want to go to school and want nothing to do with the actual college they supposedly play for.
They are nothing but hired mercenaries wearing uniforms with a college name on it, that they have nothing to do with, and want nothing to do with.
You are literally cheering for laundry with lsu on it.

You should just take your virtue signaling and go elsewhere. What you are talking bout has not existed for a very long time amongst the top recruits. and most scholarship players. very few have played for the school alone for a very long time. Now you just get to see it more clearly.

The quest for football television money. It lead to the breakups of conferences with some eagerly watching with popcorn not grasping where it was all headed.
The facilities arms race. Coaches making ridiculous sums with absolutely no loyalty to the schools or the athletes they recruited.
The rather mild $50 handshake , auto leases and too lucrative summer jobs turned into signed NIL agreements once the courts opened the door for agents.
Could they fix it? Yeah. But that would mean actually recruiting kids who belong in college and whose parents don't consider a full scholarship as exploitation. And changing Athletic Departments back to what they were intended to be instead of profit centers.

He did after his NFL Career. He also played at LSU over 50 years ago.
quote:
Cannon a dentist
Two examples from over half a century ago. But it was a different time then, as we all know, and I would be surprised if a player of Cassanova or Cannon's ability didn't at least have an opportunity to get some cash under the table.
Nacho and Loupe are good examples, though, as is Matt Mauck.

It's probably a couple of decades now with a few exceptions but it is newer. A lot of that is driven by the attitude of championship or bust. You can't afford to have someone not focussed almost totally on football taking up a scholarship. Is that driven by the system we now have or fan fickleness? Probably a bit of both.
I understand not loving what we have now but I also think some of of the issues were self-inflicted with the NCAA being unwilling to face some basic problems related to revenue and their own limitations on players' abilities to profit off of their own name image, or likeness. Particularly when the NCAA and member schools were making tons of money off of them initially.
I do think the pendulum has swung to its terminus and will begin to swing back.
