There are plenty of teams they can play midweek lol. We are only one of them on the entire schedule and it's not like we play them every year. The amount if travel is the same regardless. If you can get 3 quality OOC away games and not have to worry about the travel costs and time restrictions on Sunday, it makes sense to do it.

There are no negatives, only positives. You see teams schedule some midweek games against teams that are located near their weekend opponent too. They could schedule a midweek against Texas Tech during the same week they play another Texas school for that weekend.

So you're saying it's better to travel to west Texas on a Wednesday than to Baton Rouge. Got it.

other than Tulane or UNO who would have home games anyway when Mardi Gras falls during baseball, there's only one possible midweek every year where a team can have the run of the continent

remember student-athletes can't miss too much class, even at LSU. there's a reason teams play within driving distance in midweek. if you can't get those midweek games, you add extra games onto your weekend series.

hawaii played all of their nonconference in 4 game series. they only played 3 game series in the Big West, and only had 1 true midweek game, which was in the middle of a California two series roadtrip, at USC

You verbalized part of my argument that I couldn't find the right words for, 'preciate it.

No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying there are plenty of other teams ULL can schedule midweek besides LSU. That was a very poor argument. There are 12 total Louisiana teams that play NCAA baseball.

My point was there are zero negatives associated with ULL traveling to LSU for a weekend series. Only positives.

Just because you choose to ignore the negatives doesn't mean they exist.

Playing LSU twice in mid week plus another quality weekend opponent is better than playing LSU 3 times on a weekend and then adding two Southland tomato cans to make up for it.

If they played twice in midweek games, then yeah I'd agree. Once, I'd disagree.

And instate weekend series do happen. SLU had weekend series this year with ULM and Louisiana Tech. So it's not like its some crazy notion to do that. Obviously it's more convenient to do a midweek game vs LSU and save long trips for weekend. I don't disagree with that. Just saying there are also benefits to playing a weekend series as well. You can make it work easily.

I didn't say it doesn't make sense for every school in the state to not play in-state series. I said it doesn't make sense for ULL and LSU to do it. And if Tulane were still successful, it woudln't make sense for them either.

The opportunity cost is too high. ULM, Tech, and SELU aren't getting in a regional unless they win their tourney, it doesn't matter who they schedule on a weekend.
