If we stopped being pussies and called opting out quitting it wouldn’t happen as much.
I don’t understand how Stingley, Sr and T Bob can say that Marshall and Chase didn’t quit, but Gilbert is.
The reasoning behind the moves may be different, but quitting on your team is quitting on your team, no matter the reason.

Half this board was claiming Stingley was opting out since before the Miss State game. The same posters also seem to have developed the moronic opinion that he isn’t good or hasn’t given his all this season.
I don’t blame Stingley Sr one bit for thinking this place is a cesspool.

there’s no question this place is a cesspool when things are bad. People come out the woodwork with their rumors and theories.

Stingley Sr. is a competitor. He wants to compete and expects the same from others. He isn’t going to cover for a pussy who quits on his team. It’s disrespectful to the players who are actually playing for the team.

Isn’t Opt Out a COVID thing? Not sure it will be an option next year. Vaccinations starting most likely this Friday

We are the thorn in the side of LSU athletics. LSU would eviscerate this place from the earth if they could.
This is an absolute fact.
Our “enjoyment” creates nothing positive for them at all.

He also said last week that he understood why TM opted out and he supported him

I’ve been waking up before 6am for 43 years except maybe 50% of Saturday’s, most Sundays, and holidays. Owed a business for almost 35 of those years. I wanted to opt out thousands of times and never once did.
Rain, sleet, snow at times, hurting, sick, or just tired of the grind but hung in there and still doing it. Say what you want but I feel my generation and the ones before me are built different.

Jordy and T-Bob need to stop kissing these players’ parent’s asses every week.

I grew up poor and me and my wife have worked very hard to get to the point where we can now take a day off. I feel you.

If it's truly his decision, Stingley Jr has not shown any signs of wanting out. He continues to play through nicks every week. He's probably not mature enough to make a "business decision" yet. He's a kid that likes playing football.
My concern is the noise he'll have in his ear about losing leverage if he gets hurt. He's also maturing quickly. His mind is changing and the noise is going to get louder.
For what it's worth, I hate to see him quit. But, I get it.

You don’t see the difference between an athlete that proved everything he was capable of proving while winning a national championship and being considered a consensus top 10 NFL draft pick opting out before the most tumultuous season since WWII and a true freshmen that opted out near the end of one of the most disappointing seasons of all time?
Chase had nothing to gain by playing another down for LSU. Gilbert had an opportunity to showcase his talent at a school that produces just about as much NFL talent as anybody.
There’s no question Gilbert has talent, but he’s placing a tremendous amount of pressure on himself to fit in and succeed at a future place he decided wasn’t good enough for his standards very recently. He’s going to have to earn his teammates respect in a way he’s never experienced.
Chase and Gilbert are on nearly opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their opt out decisions. Chase opting out smartly solidified his professional earnings potential. Gilbert is completely rolling the dice that he’ll be able to escape being labeled a malcontent at the slightest sign of adversity moving forward.
One of them was smart and one of them is soft.
