We win the game w/o going to extra innings if we don't make the base running mistakes, get picked off, and hold on to the ball at the plate on the tag.

CPM and pitching wasn't the problem. We also needed to score more than 8 runs in two and a half games.

FSU, was much more disciplined it seemed but they found a way to win. Champions find a way to win, no matter what. Losers make excuses. I'm proud of the heart the Tigers showed, but this team is better than what they showed.

He asked Fontenot and Fontenot wanted to keep pitching. But you have to recognize the stuff and the data and make a good decision. Fontenot was still pretty sharp, but he was over his limit.

Edit: I wanted him out in the 11th inning. Not because I'm a couch coach but I'm concerned about his arm moving forward had we won.
Who made up the myth that 100 pitches is everyone's limit?? Drives me nuts every year on here.

You watch velo and control. If it's too much, velo falls off and control escapes them. That's when you know it's time to pull the pitcher. Not some magic number of pitches.

I have no issue staying with Fontenot.

I do have issue with pitching to Mendoza there.

Every one knows putting Hess in would have been a huge gamble. Hot Hess or not so hot Hess? Fontenot was doing well. Probably his last inning anyway. Still had to play Monday if they had won. It was an unfortunate outcome. I support Paul’s decision.
