I am not saying we don't have the arm talent but I see teams with far less talent that have pitchers who can pitch. They have 3 pitches and can work both sides of the plate.

Right, which points to a development issue. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm less than impressed with what I've seen from Kelly on the development side. It's still early though.

I feel your comment is the most accurate I have read. In Skip’s day how many good teams were there? Now every school is pushing their baseball programs. I doubt that it will be very easy to win championships in the future.

thought Mainieri was lazy in recruiting and we had no talent?

You having to use this guys idiotic post to try to cling to your pawldome is truly sad.

You have completely misread my post and have no idea what I think about any coach, past or present. WTF is a pawldome anyway?

LSU baseball is a bit like ND football in that each had a run where they dominated the sport. But as the landscape of the sport changed it allowed other programs to achieve success. Many LSU fans, like many ND fans, unrealistically feel LSU should be able to return to dominating the sport and anything less is unacceptable. The reality is both program can, and should, still be very, very good. But the 90's era dominance for LSU isn't coming back.

I don't expect 90's era dominance, just that we go to Omaha once every 4 or 5 years. I also think we should host regionals most years, and shouldn't miss the tournament ever. And win in it all once a decade would be nice.

I think those goals are attainable even in the more competitive landscape.

Status of our program

Well, we supposedly have the #1 recruiting class coming in. I think the hard pill for some LSU fans to swallow is that they don't realize or refuse to accept that we aren't necessarily the "top dog" anymore. There are plenty of good, attractive programs with solid traditions and great facilities like Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Virginia, North Carolina, TCU, and the list goes on...

He developed a slider for Ty Floyd MIDSEASON.

He talked about it on Mik'd Up. This is all paraphrasing so excuse me if I don't get this completely correct: He said he came here and basically let the guys pitch the way they always pitched and then he would give little pointers like "set up on the left most part of the rubber". He said he used little tweaks to build trust with the players. He also didn't tear anyone apart right away cuz he didn't want to lose their trust. Being the new guy, he kind of let them do their thing until they ran into trouble and then he could point to evidence that it wasn't working as well as evidence that other tips he's given have worked and from there he had a level of trust with the players to be able to develop them.

Really good interview.

IDK how Money went from our Friday guy to not even getting the ball

Did you bother to watch his last 4-5 starts? He deserved to be demoted after his non-competitive performances.
