I would Guess Coleman.

hasn’t pitched in the CWS yet.

He hasn’t pitched in a game in over a month. There’s a reason for that. I think a lot of y’all are thinking of him as the same guy who did it against Oregon as a freshman. He’s not the same dude now. He walks too many. He may have the same mental ability, but his stuff and command just hasn’t been nearly the same since coming back from TJ. Which is normal.

He’ll probably make a huge jump next year. But he can only go 3 or 4 innings max. He may be on and shut Wake down for all of those. But I don’t think he’s physically capable of pulling off what he did in ‘21. I’d rather gamble on somebody that could go longer even if it’s a bigger risk.

The bigger risk to me, though, is throwing a bunch of guys. All it takes is just one to be off and give up a few and put a ton of pressure on our offense to score against Wake’s superior pitching. Though I think we’re gonna carry last night’s momentum into today and knock ‘em around pretty good.

Carl, would that be an advantage- if he were on- in that Wake would not have analytics on him?

It very well may be Coleman. Maybe even likely. But what’s your reasoning? Not arguing against it, just curious on the thinking. Is it simply because he’s left handed and has started some this year? Or because he did it as a freshman in Oregon?

He was our Sunday starter the last few weeks of reg season. He can't last more than 2-3 innings tops though

he hasn’t pitched since sec tournament. I think this has more to do with us winning and not his status. He likely would’ve started in the sec if we didn’t get knocked out and he would’ve started in regionals if we didn’t sweep

Wake hits left-handers at a lower average than right-handers. Given Coleman is your best lefty remaining and the coaches at least had enough confidence in him late in the season to call upon him to start SEC games, he seems like a logical choice relative to the others.

Money: Hard throwing righty with a propensity to give up the long ball against a team in the top 5 of HRs this season?

Little: Omaha experience, and most starting experience of those available this year...but can't find the plate, hasn't pitched in a month, and hasn't pitched a complete inning in nearly two months.

Guidry: Maybe your best right-hander available. Omaha experience is limited to 1 pitch...that traveled 400+ ft in the opposite direction. Probably the guy they prefer to have close out the game rather than start it.

Let's get a 5 run lead and Little can close out the last 2 innings.

he pitched in the SEC Tournament. Hatcher didn’t pitch in the super, that doesn’t mean he can’t pitch.

We’ve done a very good job conserving arms. it’s not because we are never going to use guys.

coleman has had some good outing he just can’t go too long. almost all his ER come at the end of an outing when he loses control. i only say start him because we seem to like giving him a proper warm up.
