That doesn't explain why they actually performed much worse than the year before.
Could be other teams with better talent did progress, or the team had a lot of quitters

Rankings don’t mean crap to me..... you win and things take care of themselves......

Agree 100% don’t put your destiny in anyone else’s hands especially pollsters.

I will say this however, if you are an LSU..... you beat the crap out of teams you should... we should take Ga Southern to the woodshed. But LSU will play a consevative game as to not show Texas what we have.... that’s stupid.... I say. “ here it is”. Now stop us.....

That’s what I liked about Steve Spurrier. He’s like this is what we do... I may be up 65-0 in the 3rd but I’m gonna play my third string and keep doing what THEY practice... if you can’t stop us that’s not our fault.....

Only a fool would have MSU and Auburn in the top ten.
In that case I’d expect O to wipe the floor with them.

Well we’ve had this same type issue under both Miles and O where we try to hide stuff vs weaker opponents and it’s just the most ignorant theory ever. Do you see Oklahoma and Ohio state doing that? Did you see the U or USC do that when they were great? No, they went out put up 50 by half got the subs in and moved on. Not running offense doesn’t help improve it or make it sharper for later it does the opposite. Iron sharpens iron you do t get better in the passing game by not throwing the ball bs weaker teams and you don’t refine what you’ll need to beat the good teams by putting it in storage and using it once a year.

We won both games, correct.

So pointing out a win is a classic cultist response.
yes because winning had frick all to do with the discussion
According to you LSU had all they could do to stay on the same field as southeastern. Southeastern dominated the line of scrimmage. No, southeastern had a defensive end that worked Deculus over. He embarrassed Deculus the entire game.

offensively(WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT) we couldnt.
every single Southland conference team had more 1st downs and yards than lsu did when we played Southeastern
If you remove the last drive before half where lsu threw it up with no time remaining, we would've had 239 yards of offense

lsu had vastly more oline talent than Southeastern has dline talent. so youre almost outright saying it was coaching.

as if its not the staff's job to nullify a DE that wont sniff the nfl.
the talent excuse doesnt work against Southeastern.

You apparently either didn't watch the game or don't know what you're looking at when you do.

This is an example of you hearing what you want to hear. What I've been outright saying is the defensive end for Southeastern beat up on and abused Deculus all game long. It's no big mystery. Everybody knows it but you.

He's right. We should not get manhandled by a southland conference team. Did we win? Yes.
Did we win looking like crap against a mid major? Yes. That's on the HC and the OC for settling on playing vanilla and down to the opponent. That one DE didn't win the game on his own. We played down to a lower team and won but we looked like crap doing it. We should've run them out of the stadium, if we're comparing talent on both sidelines.
We had 63 total yards in the entire second half. Total yards. That's concerning.
Everyone, even Southeastern, knows we have more talent yet they took it to us.

Birdman. LSU was never in danger of losing that game. I'm sure that there were certain people on LSU'S team that considered Southeastern a tunup game and never took them seriously.

I agree. It's how we looked in the game that is the problem. We looked awful.

That's my point. They took us seriously. And no, we weren't going to lose that game but we looked awful trying to get the win. We played down to them. Same thing with La. Tech, same thing with a horrible SEC team in Arkansas. It's a concerning pattern. And it's not O that's to blame. Miles did the same thing. It's only Troy, it's only Clemson..... it's been a trend that's been hanging around for a long time. I wish we'd just stop doing that.
63 total yards in one half is concerning, don't you think? Nothing against a southland school, but that game should not have gone the way it did if we played LSU football.

That's a coaching problem.
And that's not a shot at o or anybody on his staff. Miles and his staff had the same problem. There may have been times when it happened to Saban as well.

And, agreed. The problems occur when Connelly skews his stats with his own (admitted) bias.

This bullshite is still going on? Who reads a rag with zero credibility?
Orgeron isn’t the 5th best head coach on LSUs campus if you look across the board.
Coming in third in the west was t good enough for Miles EVER, so it doesn’t cut it for him.

Glad O let that happen just one year after Troy.
