I think most of us appreciate good news, but know we still have work to do to get the program where we believe it should be. There are bigger recruits we need to take that next step, but we are going to have to beat out Saban for their services. We get them and it really will be a "big deal".
Definitely where I'm at. I may be a bit skeptical about actually being able to win the championships in the end, but absolutely recognize that we are positioning ourselves to have a chance if the things that we think can/will come together actually in fact do come to pass. If the recruiting keeps up and these kids sign and the offense does it's thing and becomes dynamic, the oppurtunity is there.

There are only a couple of posters here that I genuinely believe to be short on morals and decency.

Posters that tell others to kill themselves should be right at the top of that list, right?

Narcissism is a mental illness. Ole Ricky suffers terribly from it. He's had to back off claims more than anyone on this board, bar none.
yet the next day he's back stretching the truth, flinging shite just praying someone doesn't call him on it.

It's certainly an up hill battle. Once Saban got fully established we have not been a threat to win the West much less SEC. We may be getting traction with our current roster and a good 2019 class, but we still haven't truly broken through on consistently getting elite trench players.
Positive recruiting the last class and so far in the 2020 group coupled with a REAL challenge for the SEC in 2019 could set this team up for years to come. If we don't produce this season I can see us stuck in the middle of the pack for a while. I think 2019 is a make or break season more than people realize.

This is a fact. Year 3 for a head coach is the put up or shut up year. If Coach O can't get it done at this point (i.e. win the West and the SEC), then the odds of him ever getting it done drop dramatically.

No doubt. The most pivotal year in a long time.

Actually I've found this to be one of the things that most everyone agrees on. But, I've done my best to stay away from these threads. Just keep getting sucked back in like it's a black hole.

This is Ed's year to produce and take it to the next level. If it's another year of 9 & 3 he will have simply kicked the can on down the road. Not sure it'll hurt or help much in the long run.

It's all for no reason too. It just doesn't make sense.

this is pretty stupid considering he is still building his resume

No, but he had a track record of success. He took a dreadful OSU program and after one year led them to three straight winning seasons and two wins over Top-5 OU.
He then came to LSU, immediately won the West in his first season, won 11 games in each of his first two seasons, then won the SEC and National Championships in his third.
If you can't see the difference between that and O's track record when he was hired and his first few seasons at LSU, I don't know what to tell you.

I can always count on you for that ben. You can't seem to help yourself.

So, fry cook can't be considered a fry cook because he is "still building his resume"? You can only go by what someone has accomplished to this point in their lives when discussing what they are in their profession.
Eta: Also, when was the last time a 50+ year old was considered to be building his resume in any profession?

I don't have to beg. All I have to do is say something you don't like and you come out guns blazing.

Yet, none of it matters at all in 2019.
He will win or not.
