i wonder if military find a problem with it since it takes out the word "brave". like it means we appreciate our tigers more than we appreciate the people that fought for our freedom.

Since our Tigers were named after a Famous Military Unit, I don't see how that applies at all. In fact, it seems to meet all the requirements...
I do not have an issue with it at all. I have heard this in TS for many years. I think it is awesome that it goes back to the Civil War and the Washington Artillery (141 Field Artillery, NOLA) / Tiger Rifles.
What I DO have a problem with is all if the people that walk around, talk, laugh, and joke the whole time the National Anthem is being played.

this for me falls within the same confines as changing the lyrics to Tiger Rag to say "a**hole" and the stupid offensive line that some love to sing during "Neck."
Yelling "Home of the Tigers" is in NO WAY within the same confines of saying "a**hole" in Tiger Rag or "suck that tiger d***, b*tch" in Neck.
You're way, way out in left field, so maybe you ought to stick to baseball.

I always whisper "brave" really quick before yelling "TIGERS!!!!!" at the top of my lungs. Problem solved.

Seriously? Yelling tigers during the national anthem is similar to the explicit lyrics of neck? Some people are just delusional I guess

I can understand the distaste of it. However, America is indeed the home of the Tigers. And we love America for it. I do it every time. Its not out of disrespect, its still because of pride in our country.

You don't frick with the national anthem. It is disrespectful, no matter what you dumbfricks on here think. I've seen hats slapped off the heads of grown men for not taking them off during the singing of it. All that being said, it doesn't bother me when others do it, although, I would definitely think you're a piece of shite because of it, and likely be right. It's disrespectful to servicemen and women who have actually given their time and lives to the idea behind that song, and that's where I take offense.

If it's your thing, it's your thing, but my personal feeling is that you don't mess with the national anthem. Can you? Sure... You have that freedom. Should you? No. There are just some things that you don't cut and paste, and the national anthem is one of them. It's a sacred song in a world where nothing is sacred anymore.
Also, I've been going to Tiger Stadium every year since 1994, and I've never noticed this. I guess I'm too busy actually singing the anthem the way it was written to notice.

Where I take issue is this: Many places there are disrespectful youth (and not so "youth") doing all sorts of things (except, ironically, standing respectfully, hand or hat over heart, and either in quiet refelction or singing the words) that are definitely disrespectful to the flag, the anthem, to me as a service member, and ultimately to our nation.
In Tiger Stadium, you have, and at nearly a 90% participatory rate, most of the crowd singing the anthem LOUDLY, and if we want to punctuate the end of this patriotic hymn with a loud and passionate "TIGERRRRRSSS!!", so be it. (As I indicated before, I would not do this in uniform.)
Those that cannot see a clear delineation between those two things (and I believe there can be sincere disagreement on this issue, without vitriol) need to take a refresher course on critical thinking.
It is not "fricking" with the anthem, to borrow your phraseology, but it is embracing it and incorporating it into who we are as LSU football fans.
It is our home, after all.

90% of the crowd doesn't do it.

This logic makes no sense at all.

So you don't think that a bunch of drunks screaming a team name at the end of then anthem qualifies as F'ing with it? And Snake, how long have you been wanting to post that? Try to find a time where it actually makes sense next time, it'll be funnier.

Since the people who yell "Tigers!" are mostly students, just one part of the crowd, I'd say there's more drunk people yelling it the right way instead of the wrong way.

i don't, but i don't think it's really disrepectful.... it's really a non issue for me, and you have to take into account, there's 90,000+ inebriated fans that are rabid for Tiger football, getting pumped up more and more as time dwindles to kick off....
bitches gonna bitch....

Why not? If I were there in uniform, I would have to comport myself with the customs and traditions of the service. When I wear LSU gear to the game, I'm there as an LSU fan.
(And again, it is our home, after all.)
Posted on 8/9/12 at 11:55 am to Ace Midnight
I do it at the games, nowhere else.
Posted on 8/9/12 at 12:04 pm to Ace Midnight
It is not about LSU. And no, people have class where I sit.
90% of the entire stadium doesn't even sing the anthem.
