I noted that Spencer Ware is not on the current roster. Did he choose not to pursue baseball or did Maineri choose not to offer him a roster spot?

Awesome! But I think with Obamacare the quota is two and increases by one for years 2013 and 2014.

He was terrible, especially in SEC play last year. His future is football, not baseball. No point wasting time there.

Paul Maineri recognized the cancer affecting his team last year and performed his needed surgery to get the TEAM back on track.

Are you saying Spencer Ware was a cancer on the baseball team?

actually he said on the radio that Ware got banged up in football and wouldnt have been available for baseball till much later, so they coldmnt hold a spot for him

but im sure you heard it from a guy who knows a guy who went to HS with a trainer

Mainieri might have said that, but truth be told, Ware was just not an SEC caliber baseball player. I'm glad he brought intensity to the team with his aggressive play, but he just wasn't quite good enough to warrant a roster spot, especially when he'd be away for a month during spring football. Terrence Magee was supposed to play this year as well, but that didn't work out either, and I had heard he was supposed to be a better prospect than Ware was. Oh well, I really like the young crop of players we have in there, and I'd rather have a guy that is 100% baseball than not personally. It's not very often you're going to find a guy like Chad Jones be able to come in having not pitched since high school and play as well as he did.

He needs to use this offseason to get in shape so he's not completely useless after 8 games next season.

Isn't it time to quit touting the football player as savior of the basketball/baseball team etc. It never happens as the academic demands and reposnibilities to the football team are too pressing. Robert Royal, Michael Clayton, Marcus Spears, Ronald Martin all tried and gave it up. It has never worked in basketball, baseball has found them to occasionaly be good supporting players if the coach is willing to otlerate a sporadic availability. Jared Mitchell is a prime exception but he gave up football. Unless it involves a world class athlete like Trindon Holiday the football coach won't cede that much control. The Charlie Wards and Julius Peppers are few and far between,

You don't have Jeremy Wittens strolling onto campus very often.

The legend of Chad Jones' great baseball season is highly overexaggerated
