I just don't get the rabid and extreme Miles hate here.
Yes, it was time to move on.
But keep perspective- Saban didn't establish LSU as a perennial national power, he simply set the stage for what followed. He had one season where we did win a NC, but the others were merely "good", and that included the season that followed our title.
Miles came, and out of the gate (his first 3 seasons) we jumped from "good" to Top 5 level. Might have just been the timing, but he didn't prevent it from happening, either.
He was coach when we made a couple other runs, but ultimately, he couldn't quite sustain it.
I read a comment like "were there highlights from 21-0", and I just wonder- how many other programs are there, where the fans universally disparage a team that makes it to the National Title game? I mean, do Oregon fans bitch and whine about the losses to Auburn and Ohio St like those were the low points of the program? Frick, Miles got us TO that game twice, and won it once. Outside of Saban, Meyer and Stoops, how many other coaches are there that can say that?

I really have a feeling that the Ogeron era will be even better especially on defense. Even if we lose our coordinators we should have an identity, style and reputation to continue what was started. Looked like Wisconson's defense didn't take much of a hit when Aranda left because he had established a work ethic and culture that they continued. We need these guys as long as we can hold onto them but there are others out there LSU just needs to be looking for them then have them here as an assistant learning under Aranda to continue the style of defense he has brought here. Aranda's defense does fit our team like a glove though, they were starving for guidance when he arrived. I hope he stays long enough to see this last class and the next two graduate 2019 D class will be special!

Miles was a great coach for LSU for over a decade, and us still to this day a wonderful ambassador for the university.
His heart still bleeds purple and gold.
He wasn't without flaws, and unfortunately had to go up against the GOAT HC every year, which led to his u doing.
Flaws and all, he still never won fewer than 8 games in a season.
I cannot for the life of me understand the hate some on here have for him. Wanting to move on from him and hating the guy are two very different things. You can be okay with him being fired and still like the man and appreciate all he did for the LSU football program and university.

It's just too bad he couldn't evolve his game to have a passing attack to go with his excellent run game. I liked Les but he was a dinosaur when it came to football offense!

I was hoping this would be a compilation of all the crazy shite he has said in the past. Someone should make one and post it. I'll upvote

The Miles haters want to erase LSU history, kind of like Mayor Landreau is removing statues. I think they must want all LSU highlights from his era destroyed. It is kind of pathetic. He needed to go. Now he is gone. But no need to hate the man any longer or down vote an awesome LSU highlight video.

I still upvoted this one, I just want a good laugh. I love Les Miles, great guy, great recruiter and we had a lot of success.
He didn't change with the times, and I'm glad he's gone now, but I still like the guy. No one will ever convince me that the 2007 season wasn't a fricking blast.

How can anybody downvote that video - just watching Brad Wing against Florida gets two upvotes!

bullshite...everyone that has the sack to admit it knew we had a hard headed buffoon from very early on and he was allowed to completely overstayed his welcome. Good riddance.

Wow....... you are SOOOO wrong here.... the last 4-5 years??? Yes.......
Posted on 6/2/17 at 5:58 pm to dukke v
Wow, you are wrong. In a year that LSU should have strolled into the national championship game, his conservative crap caused the team to lose to two inferior opponents and forced LSU to back into the championship game with more luck than can be measured.
You can bury your head if you like, but whether you want to hang your hat on "the mad hatter" that married a mix of conservative play calling and numerous 4th down heroics or the fool left behind by the game his last several years, Les Miles was always in way over his head on the field.
I will give you keeping a strong position in recruiting and hiring pretty well, but that is it.
