Spoke with a Bama analyst at a coaches conference and we were talking about the lack of offensive tackles. He said that converting DT's to OT is the reason that the little man is trying to take so many DT's. They don't believe Sopsher or Young is aggressive enough for the defense. Has anyone heard this or can anyone support this assessment.

Seriously doubt it. I think the Evil Elf would be screwing up the recruitment of Sopsher if he mentioned changing from Dline to the Oline.

What makes you think he would have mentioned it...

If saban was recruiting a DT for oline he would be retarded to tell the kid that. He would just move them to oline in a year or so.

It's not a crazy idea in general- the tools, or many of them, that make a good OT translate to DT and vice versa.

HOWEVER... in the case of Ish specifically this sounds very much like people have seen the same "lack of fire" that many here have in his games and have let their imagination run wild.

Call it "making up shite to justify ________"

And yeah, the numbers over at Gumpland in this class don't seem to make sense do they.

Not saying it’s not true, but Bama has 2 top 8 OT’s committed & leads for another top 5 OT & only has 1 true DT committed (4 top 10 SDE’s committed, which is sickening), so I can’t see them trying to move Ish to OT.

That is the complete opposite of their class makeup

Oh, so we’re just making shite up to hopefully have him or a family member read it and it will convince him to come here instead. Carry on

Well their offense stays on the field longer than their defense. He couldn't be lazy playing OL. Resting a player on the DL doesn't hurt them

I, for one, am getting tired of all the Sopher news and speculations. We have offered a scholly for him and his brother, hung out with the family and showed him nothing but love. At this point, if what i have reading about him us true, if he is sold on Bama, just move on. We are LSU, he will continue to reload

Saban doesn't need to do that, when he needs an OT he goes and gets the #1 rated OT in the country. And same for every other position. Saban would tell them straight up where he wants to put them. Whomever told you that is FULL OF shite!

Funny, I've always heard that OTs have to be the meanest SOBs on the field.

LMAO, yeah right. Landon Collins as a wildcat QB was an amazing thing to see. Oh wait....it was just a promise unfulfilled.
Keep polishing Little Nicky’s knob, you seem to be good at it.

So let me get this straight, you think Saban made promises to Landon about playing the Wildcat for Bama and that was a recruiting pitch he gave Collins???

Hey Bowtie, I have some Ocean front property in Montana that I will sell it to you very cheap if you look at other Ocean front property as comps!!

Bowtie you truly are an arse-clown if you think that Saban recruits players with the intent on moving them to new positions when they get to Bama!!! He doesn't need to do that unless they fail at the position they have been recruited for and most of the time he just processes them instead of switching their position! Now does it happen, sure but that is the anomaly not the norm!

I guarantee you that Saban sees all of them as just pawns in his kingdom. His view is what is best for the team and the program and then he looks at the long term viability of the player as well. Could they have a better chance to play in the league at a different position that will also benefit Nick's purposes? Then it is an easy sell for Nick to make to the player. "We need to move you to get you ready for the league." But BTW, it benefits the tide also.

That’s not why they’re taking 2 top 10 OTs and trying for a third?

They’d just rather a 6’ 3” OT?
