Elated about the win and the progress made by the team. Hoping we avoid a let down in Oxford. What are you looking for exactly?

This. A big win can quickly be deflated with a flat performance the next week. The coaches will have a big part In keeping the players focused this week.

Preseason,

Who would have traded the following for the following:

Losses to Bama, Ms. St and Troy

and

Run the table, including the bowl game.

First year HC, OC... maybe so.

Amen! I don't know of any HC at a highly successful power 5 program who doesn't have that ability.

Well, I'm not saying it can't work. I just don't think Orgeron specifically can handle this type of role, where he doesn't have any strategic responsibilities and everyone knows he doesn't. It takes a specific personality that can swallow their pride/ego and let the machine work without having a hand in it. Most want to be able to say yeah we're winning and I'm the reason why. There are people out there that can sit back and simply be a cheerleader. I don't know that Orgeron can.

And of course, if by some chance he is the guy that can make this work, we still have the issue of losing coordinators every couple of years or so.

This is why we have the most miserable fricking fanbase in the country. I've not been a fan of the Orgeron hire but we've had two nice wins the last two weeks and I'm happy as frick. Yet we have fans of the same team on here calling each other out and picking arguments with each other, rather than just being happy we won. Sometimes I really hate being affiliated with this fanbase.

This season makes no sense. I can't believe the season turned around when coach O and the coordinators had to have a marriage counselor meeting with Alleva. He had 2 historic losses for LSU and deserved every piece of criticism he got, and I don't feel bad for ripping him to shreds. He handled defeat very poorly with his hope and pray/throwing players under the bus. I'm not a full sunshine pumper for coach O now, but I'm not a torch and pitchfork person right now either. I still want Alleva gone though.

Right. What concerns me is if Aranda and Canada think this is a shite-show and leave. You might have great coordinators who are willing to come here on the chance that they will actually be in charge of their units but if O continues to meddle where he’s not qualified to do so, it’s going to be a revolving door. We won’t get anywhere with the players trying to learn new schemes and gel with new coaches every year or so.

This program needs stability and leadership and I haven’t seen enough of either this season.

why even bother to ask the question?

I still say the same thing I thought about him last week. He's still not a good head coach but I'll give him credit for these wins the past two weeks and hope that the team continues to improve.

Why is it that every time a coach wins a game or two y'all want to crown him the greatest head coach in football?

Right. What concerns me is if Aranda and Canada think this is a shite-show and leave.
And that is a 'red line'.

The premise was two-fold but interdependent:
1. not to micro-manage like at OM; no basing team decisions on personal likes and loyalties.

2. Let the coordinators do their thing, for two reasons... One: they are the specialists and know better than O; Two: with such freedom and talent they can make a name for themselves OR make themselves a hallmark of LSU football if they want to stay. That would keep bringing in the coordinator talent if needed (that and LSU being willing to spend $$$$ for assistants)

What you are describing blows the premise up. It appears it already happened. They may have fixed it. If not, this is a closed case. And I don't care if Canada is a prick and Aranda is weird. Their style doesn't have to mesh with O; just the players. O has to accommodate them personality wise.

He still got blown out by State and lost to fricking Troy.

Those games don't go away.

Funny, you always used to excuse away the annual Less Miles idiotic coaching frickup.

WONDER

WHAT

CHANGED

Hmm, the "annual Miles coaching frickup" seemed to be:
a loss to Alabama,
a close win over someone we thought we'd beat bad,
or a close loss to someone we thought we should beat.

Taken in that context, a 1 point win at a very flawed Florida team, and a tight comeback win at home vs a decent (but not great) Auburn team...

these are what we counted as Miles frickups. This was what was so intolerable just a year or 2 ago.

What changed is that Miles never had a horribly humiliating loss that suggested the program was on the brink of collapse. Orgeron has 2 of those. That, apparently, has altered some people's definition of "good", "mediocre", and "bad". Because O has clearly shown us BAD.

Hmm, maybe Miles did make a mistake. He kept the wins rolling enough to keep the fanbase spoiled, and out of touch with reality.

O blew the Troy game because he tried to coach. Think about that, the AD had to tell him to stop meddling in the coaching. Yes, I hope he's fired asap.
