I moved to Oklahoma City for work 7 mo. ago. When I got here, all I heard was "they yelled at us, said mean things" before the NC game. I thought they were joking. Their feelings really are hurt though. Also, they all have a multitude of excuses about how the game went, such as Jason White contracted AIDS before the game and a ton of other all our players were on their deathbed BS. I just tell them I can't hear their excuses because I have 2 huge crystal footballs shoved in my ears.
The one excuse that I always loved hearing...wah wah, we had to play what was basically a home game for LSU. We would have beaten them on a neutral field...I always answer that with 2 quesions. The first being didn't OU fans have tickets to that game? The second being, you played Kansas State on a neutral field in the Big 12 championship game. How did that play out again?

A week after the 2003 National Championship game I was driving south on I-35 about one hour outside of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma driving in the right lane about 75 MPH when an elderly lady who looked like she had come stright from the Burger King commericial of 'Where's the Beef?' pulled up beside me furiously honking her horn. She was driving an old Dodge Aires. I wasn't in her lane and I couldn't fiqure out what she was honking at. She didn't stop honking the horn and when we were side by side, she raised up her right arm and hand slowly and then extended her middle finger straight at me. Talk about surprised! What in the world? She then sped up and zoomed past me. I was doing 75 MPH and she then zoomed past me! I saw a little OU decal on her rear windshield. It was then I remembered what had probably triggered this. My Kansas license plate says LSU FAN.
A little old lady who could barely see over the steering wheel of her car had just shot me the bird.

OU fans are the biggest whiny pussies in college football. I'm GLAD they hate us. I certainly wouldn't want them relating to us in any way. I hate Auburn and Alabama fans but at least they aren't whiny bitches like Sooners.

The Okie fans I met in 2004 were just dull, joyless people, no idea of how to dish it out or take it. The OSU fan base was much different, we had so much fun in the bars with them we invited a bunch to our open house on Bourbon St. game day. They had fun drinking up the beer and bourbon and eating gumbo, welcome any time.

Completely agree. It was like night and day between the two.

Sooner fans were the biggest group of pussies I've ever came in contact with before that sugar bowl.

the obvious answer is the SEC...since it's really just one school with 12 intramural programs
last 5 national championships won by 4 different ( and 6 won in the past 9 years) teams and we're a bunch of intramural programs?

I agree with all that's been said about the Sooner fans. I was amazed walking out the Superdome that night just how big a group of sore loosers they were. Not one congrats on the win. It's even more amazing how many of them are still butthurt about that game. My opinion of OU fans was forever changed that night in New Orleans and they've given me no reason to change it since.

Adding to my original post, I agree with you all regarding Ohio State fans. They were awesome pre and post Rose Bowl. I had a blast with them.

The only fans I don't like are UF fans. They are just assholes. Pretty much everyone else were nice except WVU...they just looked scared.

Being hated just means you are relevant. I'll take all the hate they can muster.
LSU is on their list for rudeness, and generally being assholes to strangers at games in B.R.
Its not because LSU fans are great fans.

wtf happened in '03 for them to hate us so much?
i actually don't mind OU.

The OU-LSU thing has come up many times since '03. I've been to a lot of bowls and had a lot of fun with a bunch of fanbases, but I felt like their fans, as a whole, had a big stick up their arse.
Oklahoma is mostly country and evangelical. New Orleans is like Sodom and Gomorrah to them. Our fanbase was partying it up and it offended their sensibilities somehow.
I kept hearing stories like "People said the 'f' word in front of my wife" and "They were drunk and loud in front of my kids."
This ain't church, folks. It's college football. It was the national championship game. It was a helluva party.

Would you expect more from the flagship school of the state of Oklahoma, that glorifies
the early settlers of their territory that were cheaters. The cheaters started "sooner" than the ones that followed the rules and grabbed the best land. Way to be proud of your history.
This.
I never understand this proud ***Sooners***
I can understand Ten. Volunteers but Cheaters and proud of it???

New Orleans definitely presented a culture shock to many Okie fans, but that is still not excuse for their being poor sports. We got kicked by LSU pretty bad, which only increased by repect for LSU and the SEC. I would love to see Oklahoma and LSU meet again soon. The "sooner", the better. If the Aggies beat them, a good SEC team will make them look pretty bad IMHO.

I live in the belly of the "beast" (Norman), and I can assure you this hatred is alive and well. I have never seen a fanbase in any sport that consists of more whiners and complainers than the Sooner fans. It is simply nauseating. I proudly wear my LSU gear around town and fly my LSU flags at my house.
You guys have to remember too that Les Miles is one of their top 3 hated coaches out there. He successfully beat ole Bob (back when nobody was beating him) twice in four tries with FAR inferior talent. It is still hard for them to stomach how such a bumbling idiot could cripple the Sooner savior, AKA Bob Stoops. And wha, wha, wha, cries the Sooner fan all the way home.

I'm pretty sure this line sums up the OU smugness and idiocy:

The only SEC fans I can stomach are Bama fans. Bama fans that I've met are kinda like some Nebraska fans in that they really admire OU history and tradition.
Yep. OU & Bama both wear crimson. Crimson is of the devil.
