He acted off of emotion.
Les Miles should’ve been fired a season earlier but he was carried off the field and he caved.
Then he went after the big name in Tom Herman, which is entirely what you should always do at an LSU. Make the big name tell you no. But when he ended up left at the alter for Tom’s Alma mater, he acted on emotion again and acted like Ed O was always the guy, instead of continuing his coach search the right way.
It worked out in that case, for a while, but the writing was on the wall that we had an AD that could stand in the kitchen, but not take the heat.
When you go after big names, they tell you no, and the media pushes all kinds of dumb narratives, you just have to ignore them.

Got bullied into keeping Les Miles after weeks of speculation even though he knew a) he would never adapt his offense and b) he was creeping on student trainers and had a smash pad above the Voodoo BBQ
Got bullied into suspending Will Wade and Jevonte Smart in 2019
Those are the two big ones for me. I won’t count Coach O against him because of the 2018 & 2019 seasons but there is a case to be made there as well.

Alleva came to LSU in Jan. 2008. Les did poorly during Alleva’s early years because he didn’t have a QB and Alleva wanted Les gone. Les then had great seasons in 2010-2011 and in 2012 he extended Les based on fake interest from Arkansas.
After that, Les declined and Alleva wanted him gone again. He tried to fire him in 2015 but it blew up in his face and he couldn’t land Jimbo. He then fires Les early in 2016 to go get an innovative offensive coach but this blew up on him because he got turned down by Tom Herman so he promoted Ed Orgeron.
Meanwhile, Alleva got played by Greg Sankey and Florida regarding playing a game the week a hurricane was set to hit Florida.
In basketball, he hired Trent Johnson in 2008 based on Trent’s run with the Lopez twins. That was a debacle and terrible fit. Trent saw the writing on the wall and left for TCU in 2013. He then hired Johnny Jones because Dale Brown and Collis Temple wanted Johnny. It worked well initially but turned into another debacle. After firing Johnny, he then got Eddie Nunez to hire Will Wade.
This worked but then in 2018 amid allegations, Alleva suspended Wade on the eve of LSU clinching the 2018 SEC Regular Season Championship and making an NCAA run.
In May 2018, the Board of Supervisors finally had enough of Alleva’s incompetence, fired him, and poached Woodward from 8&4.
There are a lot of other issues but these were his most public screw-ups.
Edit: Alleva should never have been hired in the first place based on his handling of the Duke Lacrosse hoax where a BIPOC stripper falsely accused white players of rape. Alleva believed the stripper without any evidence and suspended the lacrosse team.

Well im assuming you are making this thread because you don’t like Woodward. So I’ll just tell you that however bad you think Woodward is, Alleva was 50x worse. Alleva has no business being an AD at junior college much less a SEC school.

He was a fricking moron POS. Coach O pulling together the team he did for 2019 avenged a small bit of Joe Alleva’s body of work I’ll say. But other than that, he was terrible.

One of the most arrogant POS human neons ever. Once walked right in front of me he n the tee box at UC with out a word. He looked

Keeping Miles after 2015
Hiring Orgeron. 2019 worked out but that whole coaching search was a clown show
His handling of the Florida hurricane situation in 2016
Hiring Johnny Jones
Gave Paul Mainieri a bullshite raise in 2016
Giving Miles a raise to prevent …Arkansas from hiring him
That’s off the top of my head. Alleva was a pussy and a moron. That we hired him after what he did at Duke is amazing

He presided over the least fan friendly era of lsu sports. None of his coaches are still around, the tennis coaches sued. He was a tone deaf moron who introduced the in the "conversation for championships" era at LSU. Spent the most in football coaches in the country despite worsening results. Two flop basketball hires, one of which he let les incompetents install a Dale Brown puppet who wasn't even good at his low major. Botched the John Chavis situation. Just a sampling of his incompetence.
Botched the Les Miles firing. Lost a power struggle to him. Botched the Will Wade situation. Got hilariously booed at a basketball game. Brought in Aramark.

Orgeron earned his walking papers. He knew it. We all knew it. He completely checked out, got divorced, hooked up with a blonde with fake tits, and mailed in his job. He needed to go. Once Aranda and Brady left, he was worthless
