The same folks whining. Arkansas looking unbeatable. Hitting and pitching looking terrible. Fire the pitching coach, blah, blah. I will start complaining if we are in doubt in May

Nah we're not as good but that shouldn't be surprising.

We didn't start 2-5 in SEC play last year... it was definitely not the same.

And don’t get me wrong. I enjoy whining and complaining, pissing and moaning - whether it be football or baseball or basketball - I’m always on that LSU arse! Last year my boys and I were bitching at baseball pretty much all of May. When we got to Omaha we were still bellyaching saying Wake Forest pitching was just way, way superior to ours AFTER SKENES of course. 10 days later we were dancing a jig.

Difference is last year we had the best pitcher and position player in college baseball. Plus 5-6 veteran border line all conf guys that were talented and battled tested.

Yep I have to agree. But I still say we wind up in the “final” 8 standing and on to Omaha.

Probably not.

To be fair, I said this before the season too. We basically had to replace 80% of the production from last year's team, had a brutal schedule to open up conference play, and besides, historically defending champs hardly ever make it back to Omaha the following season, let alone win back-to-back titles.

As much as no one wanted to admit it, this was always going to be a rebuild year.

And before anyone says "we're LSU, we don't rebuild", you have to accept that this isn't the 90's anymore. The closest thing we've had to a dynasty in baseball since South Carolina went back-to-back was Vanderbilt and even they had rebuild years between their national titles in the 2010's.

I can’t disagree. I still like this bunch come mid-May though.

This season isn’t even close to being the same considering we didn’t lose a series till late in the year when we were kind of slumping then kicked it into gear for the title run.
We are about to be 0 for 3 in our first 3 series opportunities in the SEC.

The only reason you like this bunch is because they wear uniforms that say LSU on the hat.

There is nothing about this team right now that says they are anything better than a 2-seed in a regional.

That is true

Hitting and pitching looking terrible.

People were saying the bullpen was awful and pitching other than Skenes was suspect as well as our hitting may not be as good against SEC pitching. None of that was entirely wrong but of course there was a lot of hyperbole as expected here.

Things look worse without Skenes, Crews , Morgan, etc.

Fire the pitching coach,

There was a lot more of that than I would have expected given how good Skenes looked but, again, Hyperbole rules her.

But all of that being said, there are concerns. No need to overblow them but lets not dismiss it either. The team has potential it is not living up to at the moment.

2023 through 2 SEC series plus 1 game LSU was 23-3 (5-2 SEC)

2024 through 2 SEC series plus 1 game LSU is 20-7 (2-5 SEC)

What that means is LSU has lost 1 more non conference game and 3 more conference game up to now

Last season in SEC play LSU faced A&M at Blue Bell, Arkansas at the Box, & Tennessee at the Box.
Arkansas finished first in the west (20-10), Tennessee finished fourth in the East (16-14), and A&M finished fifth in the west (14-16).
Interestingly enough, LSU lost only 2 series in the SEC, one to Auburn who was third in the west at 17-13 and Miss State who was second to last in the west (9-21)

This season LSU has played Miss State at the Dude, #8 Florida at the Box, and #1 Arkansas at Baum-Walker. Let's see how the rest of the weekend goes. Maybe we can start an upward trajectory today.

There is talent, it is just not producing. I suspect you may be right about where LSU ends up unless something clicks loudly into place

If they really are going to do something like that I think it need to start today. Pulling the next two games would go a long way to getting these guys to believe in themselves again.
