I'd be really interested to see Cliff Godwin's interest. He would be a fantastic hire. Not sure if he'd leave his alma mater though.

Guy has raised that program into a top 25 program every year and recruits his arse off. That's my vote

For some reason I kept thinking this was someone different than the guy that played in the Cardinals minor leagues, but it's the same guy.

It has already been Decided. It's going to be Brian O'Connor from Virginia. Met a guy the other night who had Paul in his wedding and he said when he retires he already got a guarantee from LSU that they would hire him.

This would not be a good hire.

Is O’Connor the one that completely misused pitchers?

Not necessarily "misused" in that he over worked them or anything. But they teach things that are antithetical to development for pro ball.

We don't need a guy that has agents telling their clients not to sign with a school (or even to transfer out in some cases) because they are working against your development for pro ball.

O'Connor hired the guy that made every UVA pitcher squat in their delivery before the pitch. Absurd

I must be thinking of another coach but that does sound weird. Looks like UVA has dropped off the last couple of years too, similar to Schlossnagle at TCU

It’s the same deal as looking for the next Joe Brady. I’m not advocating to hire a scout or minor league coach but a lot of these guys could potentially be homerun hires. They played professionally and were more than likely really good college baseball players. Nothing wrong with looking in that direction along with already proven head coaches.

This does not mean they have the ability to coach

Just going off what I heard. Not saying it will be a good hire. Virginia hasn't won a weekend series yet this year either.

Where in my statement did I say they’re all capable of being a head coach? I’m just saying there are some good coaches out there, whether they’re minor league coaches or scouts.

Just like football, there are some really good assistant coaches in the NFL, but not all of them are capable of being a head coach or the next big offensive guru. There are scouts and coaches who are the next Andy Cannizaro in the minor league system, we just have to look for them.

You wouldn’t want a young, up and coming, innovative coach, who knows baseball and how to coach it like Andy did? Yall are acting like I want someone who knows how to frick or something. Y’all are going to be disappointed when we hire a proven head coach, and he has the same results as Mainieri.

I want someone who knows what they’re doing and has experience running a college baseball team. There are young, innovative coaches who know baseball and that have already had success leading a program.

O'Sullivan has dominant pitching year in and year out. We would just need Woodward to make him get a better hitting coach and we'd be unstoppable!

He’s also the Athletic Director

From their site:
As an administrator, Willis serves as the Assistant Regional Director for NJCAA Region XXIII, the chairman of the NJCAA All-American Committee, on the Executive Committee for the NJCAA Coaches Association and a member of the NJCAA Division II Baseball and NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer committees.

He’s got a good thing going where he is
