What is it about her coaching that they seemingly underachieve or do they underachieve? Is it recruiting? Was HD on the national team a detriment since he wouldn’t be out recruiting??

What exactly is Beth’s specialty? Is she for all intents and purposes the pitching coach? Because if she is she’s failing. She jinxed Berzon in the first Ole Miss loss during the in-game interview, saying she’d choose her first over any pitcher in the country. The next inning she gave up two runs to tie the game and lost it in the 7th, although she didn’t get any help from Daniels. But Berzon has been shite ever since.
Beth also tried to convince us that the first ole miss loss could be spun into a positive because she noticed the girls had been playing tight with the win streak. We lost the next two games.
I just don’t see her ever getting us over the top.

I'd say development is the biggest issue to be honest. LSU believe it or not have a lot of talent and on paper talent wise LSU has been a top 10 team since the beginning of Beth's tenure talent wise but talent isn't the end all be all.
LSU just for some reason likes to be creative when they lose these days, it seems to be the all or nothing from one of the units (Pitching, defense, hitting).
But I think its 100% clear the pitching is going to be the downfall of this years team. The offense will literally have to try to bail them out more than not a good chunk of the season (and they already have in many games to be honest). Unless they can get Berzon somewhere where she is her freshmen year, its going to put an immense pressure everywhere else. Lynch is a 5th year senior, she is what she is and has never been a ace her entire career.

The offense is good enough to be top 3 in the SEC, the pitching is the huge issue and really it’s Berzon. Lynch and Chaffin have been good not great but you have to be ok with the way they have performed, Berzon has been a major disappointment for whatever reason. When most looked at LSU going into the season they had to think Berzon was a top 3-4 pitcher in the SEC, currently she isn’t a top 10 pitcher. If BT can figure out Berzon they can get back on track but the body language from Berzon last night was awful and not promising.

Is it development or recruiting? When you look at current roster many top players that are either 4th or 5th yr seniors after that where are the elite players? How is it possible that Coffey(senior)goes down and all you have is freshmen to replace her? What happened to the classes in between? I like what Saban said paraphrased you recruit your wins and you recruit your losses..I see it as a recruiting issue and busting on too many players imo

This ain't football. You're not going to have a 3 deep at every position. Daniel is a very highly recruited freshman that is a likely replacement somewhere on the infield next season. Not like she's somebody they got from open tryouts.

So you are saying you recruit middle players once every 4-5 years? Who would have replaced Coffey, Pleasants last yr?

BT is the HC/ Pitching Coach, Dobson and now Neal coach hitting per BT’s interviews. Chaffin and Lynch have done what most expected Berzon has underperformed is that on Beth or Berzon? Idk but when the other pitchers are performing as expected maybe it’s not the coach..sometimes it’s players not coaches. Did Beth change the way she coaches? Hoover and Walljasper were elite and both multiple AA, the teams made it to the WS so what has changed? I have asked that several times with no one able to answer

No but there's nothing odd about a highly touted freshman being the first backup.

Last year Pleasants was replaced by Walker for a short time. Peterson would've been her replacement or at least moved Petty to ss but she got hurt before the year. Presleigh Pilon was was in the mix some for playing time a couple years ago but she transferred. Based on what she's done at Baylor I'm not sure she would be in over Daniel or McKee.

One thing Beth needs to change is, her recruiting radius. She spends way too much time recruiting the south and not out west. There are a few travel ball teams that she should have their schedule memorized; OC Batbusters, So Cal A’s, Corona Angels…. Look at our roster, it’s loaded with Texas players and while they may be good, they don’t face the same talent every weekend and during school ball. Example, Brigggs is a So Cal A and a two time gold glove winner. Look at Oklahomas roster, there’s 5-6 former OC Batbusters on that roster. I firmly believe that becoming a Mom has made her recruiting lazy and she does not like to travel that much in her off time. Oh yeah, she also needs to give up coaching 3rd, too many bad decisions.
