LSU simply does not promote the spring game.
In contrast to schools like Penn State where the school really promotes it and invites all the alumni and fans. Its a carnival type atmosphere on Spring Game Day and its treated like an alumni event. They get a lot of alumni donations at the event and LSU could learn a thing or two about that.
I know several people who graduated from Penn State and each year fly back to Happy Valley for the spring game. Its just something they're accustomed to. At LSU its an afterthought.
March 27th, there wasnt crap going on in BR or NO. Now come april its festival and concert galore, but certainly wasnt March 27th.
Many fans are apathetic towards the event.
I always have a spring tailgate and have for the past 8 years. This year we boiled 13 sacks and had 4 kegs. We had around 70 people and usually the tailgates are around 150 people.
But everyone remarked we were pretty much the only group tailgating for the game

Oh, you also had one of the Kentucky Derby favorites running at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans on the 27th.

Louisiana has more festivals than there are days of the year.
But we don't have a monopoly on that...
But to answer the question I'm with those that say because the game itself is boring (especially this year with the lack of any offense). And part two of the answer is because Miles is slowly but surely losing the fanbase - even the rah-rah types.
The reason Bama packed the shite out of their spring game is because that fanbase is now where ours was the first few years Saban was here - in an absolute fever pitch with the guy. Just stick around though, he'll pull the same stunt on them when they're least expecting it. He'll be the next head coach of the Pats when his best friend and mentor retires.

Other schools and fanbases saw that and have taken the spring game sellout thing as a challenge.
this...
it's all about keeping up appearences to potential recruits. do we want to lose out because they're impressed by Alabama's, Georgia's, or Tennessee's turnout and not by ours?
it's a small concern, but i can see why it's valid

LSU does not market it because it does not want that many people in tiger stadium.
They have said because of the amount of people needed to run concession stands
LSU does the recruiting bash very well but does a pathetic job with the spring game and alumni
