So I'm hoping some enterprising young reporter here in Baton Rouge asks this question. It's beyond time we focused the lens on this issue.

LSU should have kept the situation internal until all information was known. Should have set Foster those 4 guys but give no reason as to why.

Exact reason why the football team does it to not damage the kids character.

I think they're getting a pass on this. For years, they have laid the screws to LSU Athletics. Except for-ironically-LSU Men's Basketball.

I wonder why that is? Hmmm. Can anyone remember a young Bo Bahnsen as a Ball Boy for Dale Brown? I sure can. So ironic that while other Athletic Programs at LSU in our AD are nailed to the wall routinely, the dirtiest sport at the collegiate level in terms of recruiting has been squeaky clean. Makes you wonder sometimes. Oh well I'm sure its probably just a conspiracy theory from a numbnut fan like so many others here on TD.

CPM has lost control of the compliance department.

Mr. Perfect he appealed his grade and won the appeal. The grade was marked up. So he did win and there was an appeal. The problem is that he was never ineligible. This is because the rules clearly stated he was still eligible regardless of whether he contested the grade he got.

Which he did and then won. So he didn't have to but he did anyway. He won there and he really wasn't ever ineligible. Someone blew the call here.

I believe it's LSU Compliance and I am tired of the way they harangue and harass the sports programs at LSU. They're draconian and it's time for them to heel.

Was this an LSU Compliance Call?

I am sure it was and when the potential to forfeit games due to an ineligible player comes up then you sit him until he is cleared. LSU did not clear him without checking with NCAA and SEC. Once his grades came out every game he played in was a potential forfeit unless cleared. CPM handled this correctly.

Yes, considering it has not been discussed already on the three threads and many posts.

To be quite honest the guy whose posting personal academic information-be it class type, class level, and ESPECIALLY GRADES attained-is way off base here.

Well he's a senior, and we already know his major...

We know that he passed the classes but didn't have a high enough grade. In Sports Admin, that means that he had a D.

Not really any new information. PM shared similar info

I believe this guy is way too close to the situation to be objective

You aren't exactly unbiased on any subject that has anything to do with the compliance department.

I have never dealt with LSU Compliance in my life. But I see how they're operated. They are adversarial towards LSU Athletics.

Sorry but I didn't see it. But I work for a living and don't make a habit of truly keeping a close eye on the Rant when I am on TD. Regardless of where or when it was discussed-or by whom- I disagree with it.

I doubt you've had much compliance work in any industry from your frequent threads/posts on the subject. You also don't understand the role they are supposed to play especially when it comes to independence.

Same thing on the whole Patriots situation.

PM spoke on it. Seems silly to start a thread without knowing the information

quote:

“He passed the classes,” Mainieri said of Foster, a sports administration major. “He just didn’t pass them with a high enough grade in his specific major, but because he passed the classes and because those classes would be accepted by other majors at our institution, they still count as having passed credits in the six-hour rule thing.”

Which means that he got D's

LOL.

I have done QC/QA/Compliance work at multiple stops along the way in my working career. Don't let that stop you from your assumptions though. They're giving me something-and someone-to laugh at this evening.

ETA-Never in sports or for LSU.

Yet you don't seem to grasp the role the compliance department is supposed to have.

And I'm not necessarily talking about this specific situation. I agree that someone made a mistake.
