Because of the formations they couldn’t

You can stack the box against any formation. It simply means outnumbering the blockers in the box. If Les Miles lines up with a TE and two RBs the defense puts 8 in the box. If Ensminger plays 4 wide the defense puts six in the box.

Shelvin took a few years to develop but I think it may have been well worth the wait.

Multiple receivers, to include the TE, can get downfield and make plays. Opposing D's will not be able to key on J. Jefferson as Chase, Marshall, Moss, and others will make them pay.

ST's are in GREAT hands. FR PK was on the mark. He nailed that 48 yarder with room to spare. KO's were in the end zone, and Stingley is going to break one....soon, sooooon!

Not many mentions of Shelvin but thought he played great. And actually played most of the game until the reserves came in from what I saw

We have more quality running backs than we have footballs to distribute to them.

We averaged 3.7 yards per rush against a patsy. We have zero quality running backs right now. When Emery and Tyrion-Davies get experience we will have two. CEH is a quality change of pace back, Lanard is depth only, and Curry is serviceable. Three of LSU’s backs would have their scholarships pulled at Bama. I loved the offense last night, but running back is just okay right now.

We ran the ball adequately but not well enough to,beat the top SEC teams. Having said that we have flipped to a spread team so 120 yards rushing might be all we do. 300 plus passing is where we are. And with those athlete s in space that is what we need to do..

He and Damone Clark were the top newcomers on defense, imo. On offense it was Moss. Deculus looked very good, too.

LSU was the best coached team Saturday in all phases, no other team played as perfect as the Tigers. No one will deny it either.

Joe Burrow can run this offense in his sleep. I've never seen a better fit between a QB and an offense.

Everybody fighting and dancing for extra yards. Better hold on to the ball.

QB Burrow- Let's start with Joe. Showed great poise and to me looked way more comfortable in the pocket than he did last year. Obviously had a ton of time back there, but thats what the situation presented. After watching games the last 3 days I really appreciate his accuracy. Saw some terrible QB'ing today. Still saw him move laterally a few times to "faux pressure"...something he did last year that i hated, but it wasnt nearly as bad

RBs CEH- gotta love his balance and bend. Not the fastest guy, but moves so well in space and sheds tackles like a bigger back. Showed good hands. Think he is clearly RB1.

TDP- second most impressive back to me. Was slimmer than i thought, and the burst and feet he showed at 225ish is that of a future pro. I was surprised at how soft his hands were. Maybe it was the #3, but doesn't he look like a mix of Chad jones and OBJ? lol. He's going to be a good one.

Emery- was right behind TDP. The cut he made on the first catch he had was fap worthy. He's just such a natural athlete. You can tell the game is slowed down for him, he just moves at a different pace.

Curry- Ive railed Curry a good bit, I think he's destined for FB. i just dont think he moves well enough to be a viable SEC back, but his big run late in the game really impressed me. That jump cut will play against anyone, and then got out to a nice burst.

LF- not to be disparaging, but he is just boring. Will get the yards that are there, but not much else. Sort of like Brossette. His hands are good but he just has trouble making people miss when he gets the ball.

WR Jefferson-Chase-Marshall are 3 future high NFL picks. They are going to create a lot of problems in this offense this year. You can see tonight how open they were --->Their athleticism + new offense= big dick energy. My hot take is that Chase and Jefferson both go over 1k. But damn, Marshall was open a lot tonight. Might throw a wrench in to that lol

TE Moss flashed. Again, was pretty open, but I liked what I saw

OL Thought some guys got some good minutes there; Rosenthal, Turner, Wire, Hines, Magee..... DIdnt love the run blocking. Something to keep an eye on. Really exciting night but LSU needs that to be better.

----------------------------

DEF

Rashard Lawrence coming around that end for the sack...wut.? Who was that guy? Looked really explosive, and where he left off vs UCF

Neil Farrell with a legit sack late in game. I know a lot of people questioned his viability. Saw him get a pressure or two outside of that.

Chaisson was super disruptive. Might need to harness his energy a little more to play under control, but goddamn his new body is going to pay dividends.

Thought both NTs played well. IKA and Shelvin both pushed pocked on multiple plays. Ika will be a fan favorite. Trying to hype the crowd up when its 40pt game, lol.

Saw Joseph Evans in 4Q. Didnt see 47 Nelson Jenkins, tho i could have missed him.

LBs- Wow, if there was ever a game to spotlight what the LBs could do, it was against this triple option team

Jacoby Stevens- wow. He is a monster coming down hill. Safe to say he is no longer a safety. He's great in space and diagnosing plays in front of him. Super instinctive. Dont even want to really see him in coverage tbh

Phillips- was everywhere. Plugging middle, pushing guys out of bounds.

Damone Clark- uhhhh excuse me? NFL body, and came out and made an NFL play right out the box, dropping their ahtletic QB in the open field. TBH i think his future is that of a rush OLB. He just has that frame. Broad shoulders, slim waist, long arse arms. What is doing for now will do tho.

Queen- thought he was pretty quiet. Came up big on the fumble scoop, though..

Delpit- what more can be said? When people ask why I think he is better than Jamal Adams; Forced fumble right off the bat. He creates turnovers. Then you see him in backfield, TFL. Heat seeking missile

Stingley- first punt made my jaw drop. Like Emery, he is playing at a different speed. Second one was a dandy too. He looks as comfortable catching punts as I remember any PR doing so here. Guys, he just turned 18 two months ago.

Flott was the first CB off the bench in late 1st early 2nd. First impression; he's thin! Wont really matter if he can cover, though.

Can't really comment on any of the DBs; they just didnt pass enough.

Front seven, even the 2nd team, is better and faster than we may have thought. Coach O mentioned there were a lot of things the offense didn’t show last night, I actually think the defense, after the first quarter, went pretty vanilla (1- because they could, 2 - even vanilla they were awesome) and has a lot they didn’t show last night either. Their first four series, the defense looked as good as I’ve seen them in a long time. Going to be a fun week!

Was going to mention this. If the nose is big and disruptive enough to require a double team(he was and did) there is always a LB free to clean up, if they are fast enough(there was and they were). Even Shelvin’s relief was balling.

The best comment I heard in the stadium last night was what a guy stood up and screamed anoint Myles making a bad pass. The guy next to me said that mother fricker has been waiting all game for something to scream about
