I wouldn't go that far. Just because someone is coming at you doesn't mean you reasonably can be in fear of your life. Justifiable homicide is an affirmative defense and you have to prove that you had the requisite fear of death or great bodily harm. However, if inside your home, vehicle, or place of business, then you benefit from the "king of your castle" legal presumption once the departed illegally enters that dwelling, etc. At that point it's up to the prosecution to prove that you didn't fear for your life which is (or should be, depending on venue) an incredibly difficult burden to overcome.
Long story short, if you're out in public, wait until you see a weapon and the assailant is coming towards you with it or raising it towards you (that's reasonable fear). If in your home, car, or business, shoot him dead the instant he illegally enters. If he's attempting to illegally enter, wait until he's actually in contact with whatever entry point he's attempting to come through. Or else it can be difficult to prove he was attempting to enter.

Beats me man I haven't a clue. I am a Veteran, own guns and fully support the 2nd, but I don't carry. Sometime I think I should because of the way things are these days, just felt didn't have a need to. But If anything every happened I would regret it.
