Maybe not. Either way, IQ tests measure only certain forms of theorized intelligence. Social intelligence is arguably the most important form of intelligence and guys like him might handle puzzles and math well but couldn't influence a child. Perspective man

Depends on what expectations they set forth and hold him accountable to.
Some utility companies in the country have people leave certain areas at certain times, whole avoiding other areas entirely without x amount of employees in the area. Advertising or letting others know (not hiding your valuables) is another example of how people can be held accountable for being robbed.
Some companies have a no hero policy. I.e. comply... etc etc

But how does that relate to what they do in their personal life, on their time, outside of work?

I'm not trying to take away from him, but there are companies that would have fired him. There are companies that have training that specifically teaches what kind of areas and situations to put oneself in and not.
Did he do this on the clock?

I feel better now about all the downvotes I get.
I knew those people were dumbasses.

I feel really badly for Clyde, based on what I’ve read occurred. People are being flippant about him being a hero, but a lot of guys struggle with the weight of it even when completely justified. If that’s the case , getting “ attaboys “ is likely to make it more difficult for him. It’s just such a public thing, to have people always bringing it up.

Well that depends on whether what they depend on depends on whether or not its actually legal to depend on their expecations depending on hplding hin accountable or not.

You don't know this. You can't possibly know. You're just talking out of your arse in an attempt to justify your silly remark.

If it was completely justified than I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over it other than worrying about retaliation. Some people don't belong in a civilized society.

Seems like they would have to have something in their manual that says "not allowed to protect yourself in the event someone attempts to rob you in a sketchy part of town." It's not as if he got charged or arrested. This shouldn't affect his employment whatsoever.

You suggesting that someone in a situation like that... gun drawn and pointed at you... that you just wait and assume nothing will happen?

Carter, according to an arrest report, killed the 49-year-old Odom during an armed robbery. After Odom turned over his valuables to Carter, the 18-year-old "took a step back and fired a single shot" into the victim's midsection, the report says. "He gave the man his wallet, phone, etc. Why, oh why, did he have to take his life?" Odom's parents, Paulette and Kenneth Odom, of Jonesborough, Tenn., wrote in a letter published in The Advocate. "Our lives will never be the same. There is a hole in our hearts that will never be filled."

Here’s a little data for you champ. That was a story off the top of my head that took 30 seconds to google that happened earlier this summer to some poor random tenneseee man trying to do his job in BR and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yes he gave him every valuable he had and yet the perp apparently didn’t feel invincible enough— he put one in his chest and now the innocent victim is now 6 feet under.

Life is full of harsh struggles. Time heals wounds and he's got a lot of stuff going on to distract him and infinite emotional support from the staff, family, and friends. Hell be OK, I'd like to think.

Yeah that’s you. But everybody is different. I just watched a Vietnam documentary where soldiers wept about guys they killed in a split second 50 years ago. Everybody processes it according to their own moral code, and that might change over time. I am ambivalent about any number of things I did that were minor in nature by comparison, even when justified. Things I said, things that effected others, things that impacted people I didn’t know. Since we all process that stuff differently I wouldn’t presume to give a guy “ attaboys “ like he had won something. Something HORRIBLE and substantive happened to Clyde if what we are hearing is correct. It’s a seminal event in his whole life. Not something trivial you High five a guy about.
