That said, you were wrong about Hurd both in the concern for wildness and Wake having already seen him.
No, I wasn’t. I said he had the potential to be wild. And Wake still wasn’t chasing his slider off the plate. The big difference was he was throwing it for strikes and not counting on them chasing it. He was great.

He shut them out for 3 IP himself. He may well have kept putting up zeroes if he had started.
Did you watch the game? He was great with that slider in the zone, but they were barreling up his fastball and hitting him hard, just right at us. That was not sustainable. Those balls were eventually gonna find grass and he would have been run by the 5th of he’d have started with a nice outing, but we’d have still been down by 1 or 2. Which we could not afford to do against Lowder. And then we’d have had to go to Skenes anyway, which would have still burned him for Game 1 Saturday. If we’d have even made it, which is doubtful because we didn’t score until the 11th. So, the only argument not to start Skenes was to save him till Saturday would have been moot even if we still won, but we would have been much less likely to even make it there as well.
I love Hurd. He has great stuff and I knew we’d need him tonight and we did. But it had to be at the back end because we had to get as much from Skenes as possible. And the only way to do that was to start him.

Lots of superstition in baseball.
I guess you could call it karma of the worst kind.

No doubt it’s Floyd Saturday but who starts Sunday?

Post less. As in less content. No one is reading your bullshite today.

impossible on this site. Even after a great win, people have to find something to bitch about.

The need many of you losers have to be “right” is abnormally high on this board.

Miserable LSU fans on display here. LSU wins an incredible game and all you care about is shoving it in other LSU fans face. Just enjoy the win, baw.

May be petty, but not nearly as obnoxious as the “let’s start Hurd just to see what happens” brigade.
I wasn't one of those posters, but it was a logical suggestion...start Hurd an MAYBE you find yourself in the 5th with a big enough lead that you can keep Skenes out...and if not, you just end up using Skenes to bring us home.
Who in the world would get offended by that suggestion?
In hindsight, we needed every pitch Skenes threw and JJ's decisions were perfect.

It’s quite obnoxious and petty when posters do this.
I generally agree but these same people have been saying the same thing for nearly a month. Skenes was always going to pitch as many times as he could this tournament, it has been evident since he started against Tulane. It was all planned, the decision was a foregone conclusion, but we still had boneheads questioning it.
