What would have happened if lsu stood its ground with wade and never fired him? Would they have really fricked with football?

It’s not like LSU lost anything of value kicking Wiretap Willy to the curb

LSU leadership has to grow a pair and learn to fight back, it appears they just roll over. Put the law school department to work defending student athletes and the program.

This happened near the beginning of NIL, and probably after the court rulings. You essentially have every school and their boosters doing things with NIL and the transfer portal that would have resulted in the death penalty 1000 times over just a few years ago. And here is the NCAA punishing LSU for an autograph session involving 2 players. LSU just rolls over. You think Alabama or Georgia would just roll over with their top defensive player in a top ten matchup?

LSU didn't self-report this.

Other schools self-report and suspend players, we just don't hear about it.

LSU doesn't do this very often, despite the histrionics
on this board.

All this over a fricking autograph!? AN AUTOGRAPH? Get real.

He didn't get suspended over an autograph, he got suspended over accepting payments to sign autographs before that was legal to do under the guidelines of the new NIL rules.

You guys all need to quit acting like a bunch of triggered old women. As much potential as Maason Smith has, he has appeared in 8 games for LSU and has a total of 19 tackles, 4 sacks (3 against McNeese) and 5 TFLs (3.5 against McNeese)

You think Colorado law enforcement is arresting and prosecuting people that were smoking weed years ago before it t was legal. You really miss the hypocrisy of this punishment.

I guess all these other dirty coaches were on a federal wire tap and also paid players/recruits from his own bank account.

I guess WW won the luck of the draw.

No, Wade was employed by a football university.
He was sacrificed to protect the cheating shenanigans of the Football program.
If he were at Duke, Kansas, or Kentucky he would still be employed.

LSU would’ve had to pay him and pay for facilities it promised him. That was never going to happen.

If you get a speeding ticket last month on a street that has a speed limit change this month you will still have to pay the fine even if it isn't due for another month.

I don't think this is hypocrisy, but it does look bad on the NCAA's part because it seems like a weak attempt to show they still have a big stick. The issue I have is more about how this board has gone insane about this as though this is specifically targeting LSU, it isn't. Is it stupid and a really bad look for NCAA, yes. Does it seem tone-deaf to a point, yes. Is it anything to go ballistic about, not really.

Maybe not, ever heard of traffic court, maybe the judge will agree that the previous speed limit was absurd (just like this NCAA suspension) and throw it out.

Notice that none of those places called to get him on staff. NO.... he has to settle for what, McNeese State??? I glad he was fired! If you're so stupid that you are paying players out of your own account, you shouldn't even be employed at Walmart!

It wasn’t just what he did. It was how dumb he was to be caught. If you want to argue everyone does it, whatever.

But you don’t say what he did on the wiretap through ANY electronic means. Period.

Odd flex for you to be defending the NCAA here

Hey mdomingue, you mind catching me up on this? I've been out of pocket for week+ due to my moms passing, did something new come out?

I'm trying to read the thread but it's biased per poster. Just asking for a synopsis, if that's cool.

I’ll tell you what LSU did. They got together a bunch of guys who are way more experienced that you, most likely a hell of a lot smarter than you, and had far more information that you. And those guys made decisions on what was the most prudent thing to do. They fired Will Wade.

Now that’s all kind of boring. Where this gets entertaining is when a low information internet doofus comes on here and second guesses them.

Why don’t the SEC, BIG, ACC, and PAC12 just tell the NCAA to pound sand and form their own league?

The same ones that chose not to fire Les Miles after the 2015 season. The ones that hired Curley Hallman, Gerry Dinardo, etc. etc.
Quit trying to blow smoke up everybody’s arse.
