Watched it on ESPN3 on the laptop and at times (very few times) the video was really good. Tells me that possibly there may have been some equipment after the cameras that got the intermitent monkey. Through Time/Warner by the way.

They will watch std definition all the time, because that looks "normal" to them. For those of us who are spoiled with HD, to go back to standard def looks like shite.
I get the Tigervision games on ESPN Gameplan and there was nothing wrong with the video quality

Comcast always has problems - from billing on up the ladder. They should be run out of town!

Chicken, you're in Houston, right? Outside La, it was $25. In La, it was the higher price.
And - I agree, it is pathetic that a program of LSU's caliber has such a poor broadcast. That covers the camera quality, which is inexcusable, and the poor announcers. Those guys didn't know who was on the field half the time, and they also said at one point it was first and goal...at the 18. Really?
The colors were even washed out. They must be using cameras from the 1990s. HD equipment can't be that expensive for a multimillion dollar program. Especially when fans are paying upwards of $40 on pay per view, to a game with most tickets sold.

I live in Tampa and am on Brighthouse cable. They do not provide ESPN3 to watch on TV, but was able to watch the game on my computer thru ESPN Watch Live because Brighthouse was my provider (go figure that one out)...thanks to a how-to posting here a few days ago.
So I paid nothing. But, as others have stated, the feed was rather up and down. Watch Live has a bar indicator showing the video quality. Sometimes it was excellent, sometimes it was poor...confirming what my eyes were seeing. The ESPN comercials were always excellent. I'm pretty sure the game feed was from Tigervision because I was able to see all of the local comercials.
All of this leads me to believe that the problem is in the hook-up between tigervision and the companies sending the signals along.

the thing that bugged me the most was the focus, the whole picture would not be in focus, just part of it, around the edges it was blurry

As bad as Renee is on there the other guys is worse. the man simply has no basic knowledge of football.
End of the half and LSU is trying to call timeout to force a punt before the end of the half to get a quick score. With about 1:20 seconds or so left in the half LSU stops Idaho on 3rd down and calls their final timeout to force the punt.
Then this idiot says "Very interesting decision to use their final timeout right here Reneee...rather than save it for when they have the ball back"
Renee ignores the idiot....then a few minutes later after the break the idiot repeats the same thing again and renee is forced to answer. Renee says very curtly..."well if they didn't call timeout they would be wasting about 40 seconds they would never get back"....No answer ffrom the idiot.

This is asinine. If we're spoiled, it's because quality has improved so much to make us so. If anyone is willingly lagging behind, like the people that produce Tigervision, then there is certainly something wrong with that.

I hope it changes soon but what would their motivation be? They know we are going to cave in and pay for it if it is not offered anywhere else.

Unruffle your feathers, project. I agree with you. I'm just saying, technicially speaking there isn't anything "wrong" with a standard definition signal.
Simmer down.
ETA: They should have HD cameras by now and showing an HD signal in the year 2012. Thought I made that clear the 1st time but if not, saying it again. It's the same thing with companies that purchase shitty cheapo quality security cameras. What's the purpose if you can't make out a face?

i also watched on Directv ch 787. it was literally painful. the 1st half i flipped over to 206 during commercials for ESPN Florida/Tenn just to give my eyes a break from the eggshell view. my wife even noticed it who knows or cares nothing about quality of television.
Posted on 9/17/12 at 8:53 am to Chicken
Y'all are misunderstanding me. I'm not taking up for the shitty quality. Go back and read my previous comments.

While I appreciate the efforts to improve the exterior of Tiger Stadium with projects like the "Scotty Moran Champions Plaza" or whatever they called it, I still think they need to pay more attention to the mess INSIDE the stadium, including the equipment for these game feeds. Tiger Vision looked EXACTLY like the crappy feed on the crappy TVs that they have in the crappy concourses, and I suspect that is exactly what it was.
I agree with whoever said use the Cox feed. They're there anyway; I'm sure they could work something out.

So, let's have a frank discussion about Tiger Vision video quality...
frankly....it sucks. watched the game on espn3 and the picture quality fluctuated from great to piss poor.
quote:
What will it take and cost to get Tiger Vision to sufficiently improve its product?
simple question requires a simple answer....$$$$.
quote:
Since I am numb to all the naming rights stuff going on around the stadium, I wouldn't care if they called it Scotty Moran's Tiger Vision as long as it greatly improved...

Well here in Cenla, the feed came on and we didn't get it back until right before halftime. We missed the entire 1st quarter and pretty much all of the 2nd quarter because Suddenlink was having technical issues. It was a complete disaster here in Cenla.

11. Will TigerVision be offered in High Definition?
A. No. The broadcast is in standard definition at a 16:9 ratio.

I have Cox, I paid $35 plus tax and the video was absolutely garbage.

It was soo bad on Espn 3, I turned it to the USC/Stanford game. I watched other games on ESPN 3 and it was night and day. This is actually embarassing to say the least
