I don’t pay for ESPN+. I only miss like three baseball games during the regular season so not worth it. I just listen to the LSU app for those games so just missing video stream. It’s kind of nostalgic to listen to a game every now and then.

If I’m not mistaken there will be LSU football games that are only on ESPN+. I think the Nichols home game is one of those.

I think college baseball and baseball in general are sports where people watch their team and not much else. For example I am an LSU fan and a Cubs fan, and I'll watch those teams play most every time they are on. But I watch very little of even an inning of any other games.
If the number one and two teams in college baseball were to play, whoever they might be, I'd have no interest unless one of those teams was LSU. I do believe I'm in the majority there.
I would bet tv ratings show that.

If I sign up, do I still see commercials? I pay for YT premium so I don't have to sit through commercials. If there's paid advertising, there's no need for additional, individual, costs beyond already paying for my YTTV subscription that includes ESPN.
