So it seems about over for Kardell Thomas
With the '22 OL class might as well have called it then especially with this dude named Emery Jones. With what they've seen in camp and the '23 recruits... it is confirmed.
To give the guy some credit he is better. Even looks better. He'll play some, probably enough to letter but it's not enough and he's been lapped.

Campbell…damn that boy good

It’s fortunate we have 3 easy games to get the OL some experience together.

No it looks like for sure the starters are
LT- Campbell
LG- Shorts
C- Dellinger
RG- Frazier
RT- Bradford (with a slight chance being Wire)

Your text doesn't even mention Thomas' name, so why do you feel the need to shite on him in your header? Did your man-crush let you down?

one disagreement however, Wire being more than a "slight" chance. But yes- RT is the only position in doubt now.
And they'll get Martinez in there often. He's looking good. If opposition start picking up on some of the inevitable freshman mistakes of Campbell (if not swiftly corrected) Martinez will spot for him.
It is so refreshing to see quality depth!

And they don't seem to give any reasons why he has not performed like a 5 star....other than weight issues, what else?
Posted on 8/17/22 at 10:13 pm to LSUPilot07
Bradford will be in the starting line-up. Very likely right tackle, but If he isn’t at tackle, he will be at guard.

Take this fwiw but I don't think it's a motivation or effort problem. Thomas is a big guy and still has a very noticeable limp on the same side as the ankle that has been giving him trouble since his freshman year. The way he moves on it, looks like something he may be dealing with the rest of his life. Either that or trying to get on the field hasn't allowed him to fully rehab it. From the way it was dscribed to me, I don't think the kid has been able to go full speed ahead in anything remotely related to conditioning since he got here. He doesn't even put full weight on it when he's standing still.
From the same source that told me about Nuss being in a boot.
Also mentioned Mason Taylor would be a name to look out for after the first few practices but that was before I knew I could trust what he was telling me.

Damn. The nutrition program let this kid down or he just can’t give up the junk food...
Gonna guess the latter ha

He is second string right now, so I wouldn’t say it’s over for him.

Not according to the head coach he’s not. He named the starting 5 plus Cam Wire, Marcus Dumervil, Emery Jones and Charles Turner as the next guys up and I’d have to think Marlon Martinez is ahead of Kardell too. If that’s the case though that he’s got permanent Falange to that broken ankle then I could relate very well to that. I had to have a planet and screws put in my ankle and it’s never been right since and that has been 17 years now. I still have little to now flexibility in it and damn sure know anytime it rains and the pressure outstanding drops because it throbs when it rains.

All of this may be true but it’s not causing him to stay so heavy. He’s eating too much of the wrong foods. He could drop 50lbs just by changing his diet. He’s still doing some sort of working out so he could’ve dropped it quickly. He doesn’t want to. That’s the only explanation at this point.

The snap Dellinger fricked up was because Maason was in the backfield as soon as the ball was snapped
When Dellinger snapped the ball Maason Smith was either stationary, and not in the backfield, or else he was offsides. He had nothing to do with why the center screwed up the snap.

I agree for the most part. He seems like a good young man. Highly rated out of high school but it just hasn’t happened for him and at this point the dye is cast.
Just goes to show being a 5 star is no guarantee of success.

I understand your logic. But with 9 guys in front of him and Kelly cleaning house, I have a hard time believing he slipped thru the cracks. If he was that lazy he would have been gone when the other guys left.

I’ll give you a guess at which one it is. Or the dude is just eating silly portions

So who are the backup guards? Thomas had been running with the 2’s
I think we end up seeing Bradford move inside to RG and Frazier and Jones start off as your 2s at guard. Wire probably starts at RT.

I’m not saying he slipped through the cracks. I’m saying he eats too much. Take football out if it. He’s been in a major college’s football program with nutritionists and professional trainers for 3 years now and hasn’t lost a single pound.
