Want some advice? Just stop following LSU Football.

Miles isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

What successful coach in a difficult conference would WANT to come to LSU if LSU fires a head coach with an 80% winning record?

There are literally dozens of coaches that would take the LSU job in a second if Miles is gone.

Yet Miles record at okieState over 4 years was just 28-21.

There are MANY MANY coaches with better records at similar schools right now.

If Miles could come here with a 28-21 record and do so well, why couldnt a coach with a better record from a similar situation come in and do even better?

The difference is that whoever else we hire will not have a track record of winning AT LSU, which is why the people who actually make the decision have continued to support Miles. It's the safe bet, not in the sense that it's necessarily the best bet for maximizing success here, but that it's the best way to cover their own behinds.

What you're saying applies to the decision to hire Miles in the first place but not to firing him now after he has won here.

Name them.

I'm sure there are 'dozens of coaches' who would be interested but do they meet the qualifications I listed, i.e., successful coach in a difficult conference?

It would be an embarrassment for LSU to fire a coach with Miles' winning record. People would be laughing at us...sort of how I laugh at most of Cpt's threads.

You also have to factor in that Les is an elite national recruiter. Locking down Louisiana isn't enough anymore. If LSU locked down the entire state the past 5 years, while not being elite outside of Louisiana, we are in an even worse position.

The fact that we are signing 5* CBs from Florida, QBs from California, DE's from North Carolina and New Jersey, 5* LBs from Illinois, etc speaks that Miles makes up for his game management with recruiting.

As much as some fans like to build this notion up in their minds, the current situation at LSU simply does not warrant the risk. People wanting to act like LSU is in desperate need of an immediate change is a loon. I'm not saying people should be a staunch worshipper of the staff, but sometimes you have to accept shite because it's about as good as it can get at the moment.

I don't want to fire Miles. He can do better and I want him to do better.

Since he fumbled in the Ole Miss game, by his own admission, maybe he just needs to sit on the bench for a quarter and let one of the other coaches give it a try.

There are 1, maybe 2 current college coaches who can get you 11-12 wins and in the NC hunt every year. Saban, Meyer.

If you're looking for a coach who will definitely do a better job than Miles, they will be few an far between. Having good recruiting is overrated and doesn't mean you will win easy. Look at USC, Texas, and Florida.

Firing Miles would be an insane risk because the odds are extremely low you get someone better. It's much more likely that what will happen is what happened to A&M after they fired Slocum or Nebraska after they fired Solich. A fanbase got spoiled and thought "always above average and occasional NC contender" wasn't good enough, and they ended up with a complete dumpster fire as a result

frick all ya'll for making the bama fan look ten thousand times more sensible than you miserable pieces of shite.

So what is the gap between Miles and the coaches he has lost to the last 3 years. I am fine with losing to Bama. Losing to Ole Miss, Georgia this year. Clemson, Florida last year. Did ya'll forget about those losses? Are those coaches also better than Miles? You had the biggest exodus of NFL talent from last years team correct? Why the 3 losses with so much NFL caliber players?

I think the OP's point was that 28-21 in the Big 12 wasn't exactly what you'd call setting the world on fire. But in 2005 (in a pinch) it was good enough.

CptBengal loves to leave out important factors that hamper his bitchy arguments.

For example: Who else was available that wanted to come that time period?

I don't want Miles to go, like other posters have said, I want him to do better. I still believe he is the best recruiter in America, which is the main reason I fear of what could happen if we got rid of him.
Realistic expectations this season were 8-4 or 9-3. But it doesn't mean I like it.

Les Miles job is 100% secure. The lunatic fringe, the message board and talk radio crowd, screams the loudest and gets an undue amount of attention.

Do you REALLY think we're going to hire a new coach that hasn't won big and pay him $4 mil a year?
LSU is not hiring ANY new coach for at least the next 2-3 years. No action will be taken until the time when that asinine Alleva negotiated contract extension/buyout has dwindled down to a respectable level. Unless some unknown and mysterious LSU millioinaire surfaces with his own buyout funds, we're stuck for a few more years. Will take big $$$$$$$$ contributions from many sources to do anything sooner.

how about a ban bet?

I can find 2 different coaches that have better win percentages at schools on par with okieState that had similar win losses to before Miles arrived.

Oh and to the poster who said Miles winning record at LSU...What about the OP didnt you understand?
