Yes. LM has worked hard over the past several seasons to win over the fanbase and had been mostly successful in doing that. However his player decisions set him back a couple of years. People will believe, rightly or wrongly, that JL could have made a difference. Unfortunately his decision means we will never know the answer and now perception is reality.

I'd be on board, try something, anything. A stalled offense and you can't make a change? Forget that.
See you in Miami, Mett.

Geez dude. You are such a terrible poster. This board was never littered with JJ "dickriders" posting what you claimed they were.

LOL when the defense knows for sure you will not pass , there is no blocking , JJ they knew he could not pass. That is a fact . He did really looked good on the shovel pass didn't he ?? Now J Lee may have been able to open up the run , and score , and we may have still lost , but the team would have had a chance .
And you base this on what exactly? Did you not watch the first Bama game with Lee in? Did he open up the run, score, and give the team a chance?
How is "JJ can't pass" a fact? Look up his passing numbers from his sophomore year. He completed 11-17 passes in the game. The fact that it was for only 53 yards says more about the plays that were called than the qb.
People won't admit this, but JJ throws the deep ball just as good as Lee. Lee is better at the quick stuff because of his quick release. But that doesn't really matter in this situation because the debate is about throwing the ball down the field, which again, could have been done with JJ if it was part of the game plan, which it wasn't. Blame the coaches.

The long balls WERE called and receivers were open for TD's on at least three plays. Jefferson just couldn't find them or get the ball to them. But the plays WERE called and Receivers were open in time to throw. JJ was NOT a good QB.

he likely wouldn't have made a difference, it was simply Miles' refusal to try is the problem.

Yes, everyone I talk to say "YES" and would have not felt like Lee was totally shafted.

Spurrier would have handled it...he would have pulled JJ, then pulled Lee, then pulled JJ, then run the wildcat, then pulled Lee, then finished the game yelling at both, right after the last hail mary got picked-off. His aggression on offense would have been fun to watch though.

So, if Miles had played Lee.

It's not just that he didn't play Lee. All the running plays in the 4th quarter. A dive play to our 280 pound FB on 3rd and 3. Punting down 15 in the 4th. Going home with 2 timeouts.
I know no body wants to hear this #%&@#. But I still can't believe all this really happened in a NC game.
Who gives a shite how bad we might have lost if we had said frick it and kept playing to win until the very end?

quote:I think we get a different outcome. Either he would have done no better than JJ or he would have opened things up for long passes and the running game or just rested JJ enough to rotate both QBs and totally rattle Saban from that point on or Mett could have also stepped in to spice things up even more. But CLM decided not to use all his best weapons, and we all know the rest.
So if Miles had played Lee...

Depends on when he came in and how much of a spark was provided. For instance, if Lee came in during the first half and played poorly, Miles would gain some favor for trying. However, if he had thrown Lee in at any point after the first quarter and he had indeed gotten into a rythem with his receivers; gotten a score or two and made it a game; then LM would have been crucified unmercifully for not having started JL. Of course, the decision not to give Lee a try is unfathomable.

Of course it would have made a difference.
It would have showed that we actually did something, anything, to try and get out of the rut.
But instead, we were subjected to the same BS over and over again until all hope was taken right from under us.
Was it going to make a difference in the outcome? Probably not, but to sit there with a look on your face like the bully kid stole your lunch and give up is ridiculous. The comment regarding Spurrier couldn't be more dead on! He wants to win and will do everything he can to try and make that happen.
And to those that are sick of the discussion, don't click on the thread and get over yourself! If people want to rant then let em go, this is what this place is for. Not to whine like a bitch over multiple threads screaming "stopppp". Not everyone is on here every waking hour.

I agree.
The unknown is easily the most frustrating part.
Lee could have come in and lit them and lead us to victory. Or he could have thrown 9 consecutive pick sixes.
But we'll never fricking know.

Agreed, the fricking constant whining for people to stop posting is pathetic.
It's the same people, different threads.

I don't generally care what people discuss, but you do have to admit this subject is pretty well exhausted.
Most people are just using TD as a sounding board for their frustrations. Which is fine, but it's also understandable why people would get sick of seeing every other thread be on the same exact subject, especially in the thick of recruiting season and at the point where we should be turning our eye to what next year's team will look like.
