I thought Denzel Washington was a pretty good coach in Remember the Titans. Didn't they win the state title?

Does Snoop Dogg still coach his kids little league team? He may be interested.

Now, we're getting somewhere. Thanks for the GREAT topic jralspanky!

Great topic

This has NEVER been discussed on the Rant before.

I don't know who we could find for 3.7 million a year? We could not hope to entice anyone with that pitiful amount of money. Who would want to come here anyway when the fans have unrealistic expectations and expect coaches to go better than 1-8 in 2 years against top 25 teams. Nobody will ever want LSU again if Miles is fired Most good college coaches don't like getting a 1 to 2 million dollar a year raise and are terrified of challenges/expectations. They don't want to coach at a crappy school like LSU where there is no talent and no chance to win it all. You are right why would any coach come to LSU if Miles is asked to leave?

John Wooden is a man I think of anytime I discuss traits I would like to see in my coach.

He is the "Coach"!

You are an idiot. Way too soft. Next you will be wanting Tony Danza as the kicker.

I want James Caan. He was a running back with Gale Sayers and then a coach too. Awesome.

I'm sticking by my original suggestion, Gary Patterson. His team, TCU, was the only one in the nation besides Florida to finish the season with both a top 5 defense (1st) AND a top 10 offense (7th). That is good coaching, considering the disparity of talent between Florida and TCU.

You think Tebow would be willing to skip a career in the NFL to coach college?

Sorry, it's difficult to take someone who's name is "spanky" very seriously.

Carry on.

Surprised no one has mentioned Coach Eric Taylor from Friday Night Lights. He has done a great job turning around East Dillion High since starting there this year. I know he has minimal college experience but he is a great motivator.

Actually not really. You have to do a full statistical analysis and pull out all the creampuff games (and get the Les Haters to tell you which ones they find acceptable to toss out).

If the numbers still come out ok, you have to watch video of all their games to make sure his clock management is good.

Press conferences have to be considered, and you have to make sure there are no issues with asst. coaches' wives (vague is fine with this one).

Does he fully disclose all the issues when a highly regarded freshman doesn't play? Gotta know that.

So check back in when you have better info for us.

Come on, man - that guy is a high school coach! I want someone with NFL experience. Who was that guy in the NFL documentary "Any Given Sunday"? Was it Pacino or some Italian name like that? That's who I want.
