Nolan Ryan threw more with less armcare than these kids get now

I know it's hard to believe, but Skip hasn't coached in over 20 years. So because the game has changed, an 85 year old former coach is going to say he'd do something that's the opposite of how he coached his entire 36 year career in the sport? Ok
Well with that said Skip would start Skenes and let him go 9 innings.

What if you’re down 6 runs in the 6th? Gonna go to the mat without giving your best player a shot?
You shut em down at 6 and hope our bats come alive. We'd know the target number of runs needed basically. I'd rather that than be 0-0 going into the 5th and then they score 6 runs in the last couple of innings.

Ott must have hit on a parlay to afford Skip. His speaker appearances aren't cheap.

Did you know that In 1974 Nolan Ryan purportedly threw 235 pitches in a game against the Red Sox. He would start another game 3 days later, pitching 6 scoreless innings.

Ridiculous. Skenes has to start. It makes no sense not to

Because you are suggesting not putting your best foot forward in a winner take all game, or bringing him in when it’s potentially already too late. And using him in a role he’s never done this year on short rest and without his normal warmup.

You know Fla is going to be throwing better pitchers later in the game than they are in the beginning, right?

Well, it's baseball and you can usually see the six runs coming, and you put Skenes in before that?

Get the friggin bats going and it won’t matter as much

So,
-short rest
-new role
-reliever warmup vs normal routine
-runner(s) on base
Way to set him up for success

This is it....every scenario for LSU to win requires timely hitting and avoiding the big inning

Sure it does. There's topns of reasons listed on this board. Plenty of people have talked about it on the radio all day (it's happening right now).
You're awareness of it doesn't equate to it's existence.

This is silly. Dude will be fine warming up in the pen.

Fugg it go backwards: Herring, Cooper, Hurd, Skenes.

Skip would have gone ahead and thrown him in game 1

You know starters and relievers have different warmup routines, right?
In a game where Skenes throws 120 pitches, he probably threw 60-80 warmups before taking the mound
Plus stretching.
Relievers have different routines and are usually guys who can’t go long but can get hot quick. Sounds like a great idea to have a guy try to go on a short warmup on short rest if you’re trying to avoid injuries

Ackenhausen didnt start one game all year before a week ago and has now started two. It's different, sure. It's not a reason to avoid a desired rotation.

We still have to improve at the plate!! Cannot, under any circumstances, continue to leave guys on base
